It has been a while since the scene has heard any news about the Xbox hacker known as GliGli. After his work Mupen64 - 360, he seemed to have retired in his happiness by letting Xbox gamers get their own taste of Mario and Zelda on their Microsoft machine. However, today we can officially confirm the developer's return with his next console of attack being the now legendary Sega Dreamcast. If the video found at the source link is any consolation, a full release seems to be on the horizon very soon. Will Sonic fans be happy? You bet they are!
As any project might, GliGli did express some small bug concerns as he began his latest project, but now his three main concerns are more or less revolved around the areas of compatibility sound and speed. Despite the fact that the architecture for the sound in particular has been notoriously difficult for many coders to nail down completely, for an initial build it is said that you should be able to get your fill of the music just fine. While any note on game compatibility specifically remains unsaid, there are plenty that look to be running at quite a stellar speed.
To quote GliGli himself: a proper binary release *might* not be that far
," so if you can wait just a little bit longer, the sound of "SEGA" will once again be filling your living room. Only this time, it will be coming straight from your Xbox. Today is a great day to be an emulator fan!
