The time has finally arrived! The day that c4eva releases the iXtreme Burner MAX firmware for specific Liteon drives that allows you to burn complete 1:1 copies of all XGD3 games. Not only that, c4eva drops a v2.01 bugfix update for Samsung drives so they aren't left out of the game. Take a look at everything you will need.
iXtreme Burner MAX
In order to make use of c4eva's iXtreme Burner MAX firmware, you will need a compatible Liteon PC DVD Burner. This list was announced earlier in the week and can be found here. Make sure that you buy one with a "B" chipset as drives with the "A" and "Y" chipsets will not work with this firmware.
ImgBurn with Verbatim media have only been tested with this burner and firmware thus it is the recommended setup to use by the team. If you decide to use a different setup, you will have to configure it as necessary for it to work with the Burner MAX firmware. (And if you do decide to do that, make sure to report your findings)
The Setup:

iXtreme LT+ v2.01 For Samsung Drives
Alongside the iXtreme Burner MAX firmware, c4eva has also pushed out LT+ v2.01 for Samsung drives which simply serves as a bugfix update for 8.7 gig backups.

NICE! Wonder if C4E has any plans to incorporate basic 0800 support eventually and if RPC1 patching utilities still work with the firmware image.
If anyone gets one of these drives and has AmazonBasics media, please post results. I've always had great success reading those on every xbox I've toyed with and would love to know what results you get with them.

Lite-On iHAS124B, iHAS224B, iHAS324B, iHAS424B, iHAS524B, and iHAS624B drives are all cheap drives anyway, so why are people complaining?!
Just get on eBay and buy an iHAS series drive and you won't have any issues burning XGD3 discs lol!
You can buy these for the same money as what some of you are paying for a handful of DVD+R DL discs!
UK price £14.99 delivered.
Imation DVD+R DL 5pack £12.99.
For the cost of 5 discs a UK resident can buy a proper Lite-On drive for creating perfect XDG3 Backups, and in the States you guy's get things even cheaper with your big companies like WallMart and all their buying power so i'm sure a US resident could source just as good of a deal.
Burning XGD3 discs is sort of possible on standard DVD re-writers using truncate methods... but you'll never produce a perfect disc. You'll get mid-game and end up with a read error. So most people just wouldn't waste their time (or discs)
PS- cheap compatible discs for UK residents try Tesco. They sell a 5pack of their own branded TESCO DVD+R RECORD ONCE DUAL LAYER discs in jewel cases for just £3.94 and they work perfectly at 2.4x and 4x speeds.
DO NOT buy and try MEDIA RANGE DVD+R DL 8.5GByte 8x discs - these are the worst discs i have tried for Xbox 360 backup burning. A complete waste of money. Out of 20 discs i failed to make one working disc. (Five failed to be readable in any DVD writer, Six failed mid-burn, Nine Burnt but could not be verified and did not operate in a Xbox 360 drives (BENQ VAD6038, SAMSUNG TS-H943 MS25 or MS28, or LiteOn drive. Verdict: Useless!
