Xbox "Durango" To Have Bluray Drive and Kinect 2.0?

There's no denying that Microsoft has absolutely been a major player in this generation's hardware race. Although they were the first ones to make the jump into what we now call the current generation, the Redmond company has managed to compete with the best of Sony and Nintendo by offering up strong exclusives like Halo, the Kinect, and Gears of War.

That being said, as this current run of consoles draws to a close, the eyes of the industry are on the future; and with the future comes great speculation. According to the UK based Xbox World magazine, they have received some "inside information" on what the Xbox Durango (or 720) will feature. In quite an unlikely pairing, sources say that the next gen console will actually sport a Bluray drive. Considering Microsoft was one of the biggest backers of HD-DVD back in the day and competes with Sony's own PlayStation head on, this seems like quite the odd pair. Still many say it is true.

In addition to this we have also heard a few small rumblings about Kinect 2.0 as well. As the name implies, this will feature a substantially updated version of the camera peripheral and will feature stereo imaging, improved voice and motion accuracy, alongside the ability to monitor four unique bodies at once. Pretty cool. If you want to get even more speculatory, there have also been some rumblings of an A/V port to record and display live television as well as a controller with an HD display. Only time will tell what the next generation brings, but these rumors in particular are getting a lot of mainstream attention.

What other features would you like to see in the next Xbox. That AV port sounds great to me!

All of this has been speculated before (even the possibility of the display in the controller, a la Wii U). And, as before, the surprise that Microsoft would use BluRay because Sony developed it. Well, Microsoft develops Windows, but Sony licenses it for their VAIO laptops. Toshiba developed HD-DVD, but licenses BluRay and helped develop the Cell processor. And Apple sued Samsung for copying the iPad and iPhone round corners, but Apple uses Samsung components in those very same devices (and in Macs). There are lots of other examples, but you get the idea.

sony didn't develop it idiot. why do so many people say this, it was the blu-ray disc association that developed it which had 19 board members like apple, dell, hewellet packard etc.....

Yeah, I mean that is true. Even though Apple is trying desperately to break from the grasp of Samsung. There are lots of examples like this in the industry.
