Whatever You Can Do, I Can Do Better! New Xbox To Be Revealed In April!

Submitted by UnashamedVandal; February 22, 2013

As many of you may know, there was a sense of 'whatever you can do, I can do better' between Sony and Microsoft when it came to next generation hardware, however it was Sony who was eventually brave enough to reveal their console first. Now it is out in the open, many sources have revealed that Microsoft will be revealing their next generation console in April.

The PlayStation 4 has been quite a big talking point for the last two days and didn't fail to impress anyone, but will the next Xbox have the same wow factor? And have Microsoft simply been waiting on Sony so they could one up their rivals?

According to a senior Sony official (who didn't want to be named), Microsoft were caught off guard by the reveal of the PlayStation 4 and that Sony definitely ruffled some feather with their showcase.

Let's face it! Sony, without having an OS ain't going to cut it. XBOX has exclusivity on most of the "major" titles out there (call of duty / halo / gears of war). Both system will have the same hardware so we need to look at the software end of it. It's easier to code for Microsoft then it is for Sony. Not to mention that Microsoft has it's own OS that is duplicated in their phones, computer and console. Sony doesn't! Furthermore XBOX will have blu-ray, which in my opinion is what made a lot of PS2 gamers (myself included) stay with PS because we knew Blu-ray was the future. With that said as a hardcore PS gamer. XBOX is the future. Sony is no longer the king of consoles.

I have to disagree. For a start, Blu-Ray technology is owned by Sony, meaning Xbox will have to may them royalties to include the hardware in their console. Secondly, Microsoft's OS is a waste of RAM and CPU power, it isn't as necessary on a console as it might be on a cell phone. As far as exclusives are concerned, Call of Duty isn't exclusive to Xbox and PlayStation also has the likes of Killzone, Uncharted and Little Big Planet, these are all huge selling franchises, plus Bungie are now developing for the PS4 meaning they are no longer an Xbox exclusive company.

The Xbox 360 ever so slightly had better hardware than the PS3, but global sales fell in favour or the PlayStation and not the Xbox, despite the PlayStation being released a year later than the 360. Imagine what Sony and developers will be able to do when the PS4 is as powerful as the next Xbox.

Yes, its true the PlayStation 3 was a pain for developers compared to the Xbox 360, but who says that will be the same for the PlayStation 4. PlayStation have a habit from learning from their mistakes and improving their console, they have been in the game longer and the reason Xbox didn't announce their next gen console first, is because they didn't want to look bad compared to Sony.

Yeah, they did have some developers comment on the specs, saying how amazed they were and how much of a dream it is going to be. I can only see the Xbox matching the PS4, I can't imagine that they'd come out with something better.

....ROFL

Sorry. But as a PC gamer, looking at the PS3 specs (which are mediocre at best) I had to laugh

Blu-ray (not Blue-ray) also known as Blu-ray Disc (BD), is the name of a new optical disc format jointly developed by the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA), a group of the world's leading consumer electronics, personal computer and media manufacturers (including Apple, Dell, Hitachi, HP, JVC, LG, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Pioneer, Philips, Samsung, Sharp, Sony, TDK and Thomson). it's not owned by Sony

Sony DO NOT own blu ray they were one of many companies that put into the project and their contribution was actually much smaller than most of the other companies.
Do you really think if sony owned the rights to the format that you would be able to buy any blu ray player that wasnt sony, i wonder about the intellect of you youngsters i really do.

Actually you too sir are wrong, while Sony may be the face of Blu Ray Panasonic has the highest amount of shares; Phillips and Pioneer also have some rights as well.

It was true that the xbox was a better system to code for, but if you watched the playstation meeting on feb 20th, you will see that sony made the PS4 hardware in favor of the game developers which will allow them to make games even easier than they previously could have. I have also read a number articles about the Xbox 720 stating that it will use 8gb of DDR3 ram while the PS4 will use 8gb of DDR5 which is way faster, and the PS4 benchmarks around 1.8 teraflops while the Xbox 720 benchmarks at about 1.25 teraflops so PS4 is stronger than the Xbox 720. For exclusives, Playstation has way more than microsoft. Playstation has more major titles that are even bigger than cod, halo, and gears like God of war, Killzone, its HD collections that were on the ps2, InFamous, Uncharted, list goes on. I also hear that the Xbox will require an internet connection to play games so that it won't allow you to play pre-owned games, while PS4 doen't require an internet connection and allows you to play used games.

I really doubt the xbox will use blu-ray, it's not owned by sony only (it's also owned by other companies) but that doesn't change the fact that microsoft can't use it without paying loyalties. Their best bet is to either use (and/or improve) the HD DVD format, or make up their own (as nintendo did). On the other hand, where the hell have you seen CoD being exclusive to the xbox? hell we even have call of duty for nintendo consoles, and as others have said, Sony has a lot more exclusives, just look at the characters in PS Battle Royale, most of them are Sony exclusives, if microsoft were to make a smash bros type game with xbox exclusives it'll end up being master chief vs himself xD, and with bungee now developing for the ps4, that might not even be accurate xD

# PS3 Was Strong But...YungQuizzyQuakeTV 2013-02-25 14:21
The PS3 Was Strong But Developers Didn't Want To Really Take The Time To Learn The Programming For The Hardware Like That Which Is Why They Ported Alot Of Titles From The Xbox 360 But They Lacked The Shine That It's Xbox Counterparts Had...The PS4 & Xbox 720 Are Going To Basically Be The Same...They Might As Well Had Been Making A PS4Xbox720...Yes You Read That Correctly...It's Like The PS3 & Xbox 360 Will Probably Be The Last Defined Separation Of Consoles Hardware Wise...The Playing Feild Is Going To Basically Be All About Software...Well That's What I Predict...I Could Be Wrong...But If Any Of The 2 Out Of 3 Companies Should Combine...That'll Destroy The Company That's Left Standing Alone...It's Going To Be A Software Battle...Can You Imagine Nintendo Combining With Sony...Oh My Gosh...That's Mario & Gran Turismo On The Same System...Who Would Buy A Xbox-Whateva After That...Like I Said Before...Time To Hold On To Those Gems...By Gems I Mean Certain Systems That Will Be Valuable No Matter What The Future Has In Store For Gaming...I Still Think PS2 Is Still The System I'd Be Stranded On A Island With Any Day Or A PS3 With Backward Compatibility Modified To Prevent Over Heating...Point Is During The PS2 Reign Developers Developed & Didn't Rush Out Titles & It's Library Is Massive Plus Game-play Across The Board Was Awesome...Now It's All About Graphics & Ease Of Creation But Back Them Programmers Made The Near Impossible Happen With What They Had...Which Made The Games Better...My Opinion But Someone Could Correct Me If They Think I'm Wrong

I Can't Belive You Guys Are Such Stupid Assoles That You Cant See That Its A Rumour. Not A Fact. Do Not Write Like This With Capitals It Is Fucking Annoying. :P
