Sneak Peak At Next Gen!

We've heard a lot of bad rumours about the next generation of consoles surrounding pre-owned games. Lets focus on some of the next generation's stronger points though, starting with what is sure to make the next gen shine...... Straight to the point ladies and gents, Epic Games are the creators of Gears of War. Great game and the graphics arent half bad either, however youd never guess that this is the same group of guys that have now brought you some of the first next generation in game screenshots. Earlier this year Epic Games held a private conference to show off a demo of a game they had spent a mere 3 months working on with only 14 engineers. This was shown to various companies/developers that would be using the up and coming Unreal Engine 4 and I have to say, the result are extremely impressive. The sad thing is, we could of had this sort of quality graphics already on PC. I know I will get flamed for this, but its true. If devs took more time working on developing for PC's, then we would of already seen this sort of quality 3 years ago.

Your probably right, PC's are very versatile but that scares people and home consoles are always an easy comfort. Saying that, I do prefer gaming on home consoles like the PS3 rather than a PC.

Your truly right. I prefer PS3 to PC aswell, its the fact that the next gen, could of been even better. It's modified PC hardware that go's into consoles, so if we spent more time developing for PC's then porting that to PS3/PS4/Xbox, instead of the other way round, then we would of have more of a leap when jumping to the next gen consoles graphics. Becasue the hardware games we have on PC are normaly console ports, that don't test the hardware to its true potential. Have you seen the Samritan Demo, that can run on a GTX 680, easily. Just go's to show that if you put in the time, it pays :)

sorry to be the bearer of bad news here.. those screens are taken from the official unreal engine 4 demo.. its for PC and uses some pretty hefty computer hardware to achieve... so unless MS and Sony thnk they can sell $1000+ consoles dont expect the next gen to look like that.. I would think that at best the next gen console graphics are to look pretty much as good as current games like BF3 or crysis 2 look on a good PC.

no your wouldnt have.. we didnt have hardware with the kind of power needed for graphics like this 3 years ago.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSXyztq_0uM <-- check that out.. thats a demo done on unreal engine 3 showcasing what they could do.. but it took 3 GTX580's in sli to render.. it was kind of a call out to the hardware guys like "looky what we can do... now make us some hardware that can manage this and people can afford"

Yes, but that only takes one GTX 680, and that it was rendered in real time. This was last years demo yes, looks awesome too, but we could of been seeing games with those sort of graphics (close too it anyway) 3 years ago. How old is Crysis 1? That was far superior to anything of its time, because it was developed for PC. Cyrsis 2 was allright, but most people complained because it was a console port and could of been better if it was developed in the same way as Crysis 1.

when there are skilled enough modders at you desposal and your pc is incredibly good, your graphics can be better than this, on my game of skyrim for pc i have a hard time difentiating between it and real life, your graphics card may have some problems with it though XD

It may all look good but still the fact is that it will be a waste of money in the long run on how much you will linvest in this... Second of all remember whent the os3 and xbox 360 came out how much issues they had????? I sure in hell did not forget.... Now they want to lock these drives and make us buy brand new games that will cost just about the price of a game console! Man get real I dont care if this thing has gold in it... Take time out and give the wife some needed attention other than call of duty.. At the end is it really worth it? I think not reality is as real as you can get
