While we haven't heard much in the form of an actual announcement about the next Xbox, there's no denying that one is on the way. With more mentions of the supposed "project Durango" and delivered dev kits than I can count, it's clear that there is something on the way from the company that just released Windows 8. According to a report published by Neowin, the next-gen console is going to be one heck of a powerhouse with specs that are more or less twice what the previous system offers now.
When it comes to processors, the console will supposedly be running an astounding eight core x64 architecture with each core clocking in at 1.6 GHz. To put that into perspective, the 360 only gets 3.2GHz total from its current processor. On top of that you'll be getting eight gigs of RAM compared to the meager 512MB found in this generation too. When it comes to graphics, it is said the unit will feature a custom D3D11.1 class 800-MHz graphics processor featuring 12 shader cores with a total of 768 threads. At it's peak, the GPU can supposedly perform 1.2 trillion floating operations a second. Sounds like a pretty strong machine to me!
