Microsoft Storming Sales

Submitted by UnashamedVandal; January 20, 2012

I recently covered some news discussing the poor start in sales for the PlayStation Vita and how damaging it has been for the handheld; however Microsoft seems to be experiencing a completely different experience. The second quarter in the financial year has ended and Microsoft has posted their extraordinary results, with a huge 8.2 million Xbox 360 units sold. Although the holiday season always brings in more sales, Microsofts successful advertising campaign has seen a rise from 6.3 million consoles to 8.2 million since the first financial quarter. Not only this but Microsoft has also seen a 15% increase in the sale of their Windows mobile/cell phones. Regardless of the strength in their sales, Microsoft income profits have dropped from $666 million last year to $528 million this year, although to be honest you wouldnt be worrying when you are bringing in profits that high. Let me know your thoughts.

Well, the competition is tough for Microsoft, and about the profits, there's a $138 difference in profits, I would worry if I was Microsoft. They should get to the bottom of this and see why are the profits lower despite higher sales. Is the price drop or higher company expenses? Anyway, as a customer I am still waiting to get impressed by Microsoft, at this point I have a PlayStation Vita I got from a guy on Fort Worth classifieds, Microsoft needs to do better in order to tempt me to get the products directly from the store. If we watch this example on a larger scale it would be another explanation of the drop in profits.
