According to an internal source, Microsoft is going to do away with Microsoft Points, their currency system used to purchase titles, DLC and other goodies from the Xbox Marketplace. In its place will be the use of regular currency for whichever country or region that you're in. The changeover is set to be done by the end of 2012 and those who are stocked up on Microsoft Points will have their savings converted to real currency. The exchange rate hasn't been mentioned as of yet but as the time draws closer, more details will come regarding that.
As of now, users have reported that they are able to pay for digital content with cash in Windows 8. Although Microsoft hasn't confirmed or denied this, it is something that they should go through with. The Microsoft Points system is something that they have received criticism and I'm sure that I'm not the only one who feels that they should have been done away with a long time ago.
