Metro Dash To Drop On December 6

Submitted by Demonchild; November 23, 2011

While I get to browse the menus of the Metro dashboard with my imaginary Kinect, you can do the same come December 6th. This is the official release date of the new dashboard for the Xbox 360. We already know what's coming but let's take a look anyways.

At the moment, the kernel for the Metro dash extends into the 14000s and there is obviously a change to the AP25 challenge table. What this means is that AP25 & XG3 backups won't be playable on the new dashboard using the old 13599/13604 patches. Other than that, you can expect the dashboard to sport the Metro style design.

The new features include the addition of several apps such as Youtube and Bing Search. Deeper Facebook integration has been added as you now have the ability to check out your FaceBook friends on Xbox Live directly from the dashboard as well as the ability to share some things. Control using voice and gesture tracking via Kinect is added. Other things such as Beacons and Cloud Storage for Game Saves will be available in the new dashboard as well.

Does  anyone know if it will reflash your DVD drive? and you will still be able to use XDG3 and AP25 games with Lt+ 2.0 and the workaround using Horizon?

Since all slim drives are now locked, I don't think so.
