Kinect Officially Heading To Windows

It's not exactly Xbox 360 nor Kinect hacking relating news but it's worth the post. Microsoft has announced on their Kinect for Windows blog that the popular peripheral that redefined gaming on the Xbox 360 console will be available for computers running Windows starting on February 1st. What's the price you may ask?

Kinect for Windows will retail at $249, which is $100 higher than it's Xbox 360 counterpart. On top of that, it will debut in the US, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain and the United Kingdom. The $249 will buy you the Kinect hardware and software updates. If you're looking to bring Kinect to your institution of learning, it will run at an estimated $149.

The increased premium for Kinect for Windows comes from the lack of funds from other sources. In other words, the Kinect for Xbox 360 can be sold at $149 due to the fact that the rest of the cost is covered from Xbox Live subscriptions, the purchase of Kinect games and other related transactions.
