While we patiently wait on for the new Metro dashboard to be released, let's take a look at the new video features to be implemented along with it. With the plethora of video streaming services already available such as Netflix and Hulu Plus, Microsoft looks to include several more such as UFC, Crackle, Dailymotion and Youtube, to be name a few.
Microsoft's Marc Whitten says that the Metro dashboard is "another huge step toward realizing our vision of bringing you all your entertainment, shared with the people you care about, in an easy way." With content being provided from over 40 partners, it doesn't end there. The other new features such as voice integration and the Bing search bar will allow users to extend on the functionality that these programs can offer and the dashboard itself.
I took a look at the streaming partners list to be introduced starting with the Metro dashboard and so far, it includes content from Bravo, Best Buy's CinemaNow, Crackle, DailyMotion, EPix, HBO GO, iHeartRadio, Magna Entertainment, MSN with MSNBC, SyFy, TMZ, The Today Show, UFC, Verizon FiOS, Vevo, Xfinity and finally Youtube. That's quite a lot of streaming coming up within the next few months for the United States alone...
We'll keep an eye on any news relating to the release of the Metro dashboard. I'm just as eager as you to jump into all the action.
