According to Kotaku, the Army of Two franchise is getting another installment and this time around it will be called Army of Four. Not surprisingly, this means that it will support four player co-op. Despite the previous two games getting mixed reviews, EA Montreal is moving forward with the new game.
Army of Four will use DICE's Frostbite 2 engine, but the rumors are that the development is "not going well" and that they may be shuffling people around to improve the situation. In general, this kind of new (if true) indicates that the game is not going to turn out so great.
After other games showing us that four player co-op can be awesome - Gears of War 3's campaign is so much more enjoyable when you have four players - it's perhaps not surprising that the Army of Two franchise is going this route. The previous games have entirely been centered around co-op and they need a shot in the arm. Expect the return of the over-the-top Tyson and Rios, but exactly who these other two people will be is up in the air. Hopefully they're not nameless, faceless clones like in Lost Planet 2's co-op. Alice Murray perhaps? Hey, she could have survived and the dialogue in Chapters of Deceit DLC indicated she might have. We'll see.
