After this year's disappointing Call of Juarez: The Cartel, it looked like Ubisoft may have decided to nail the coffin shut on the once-promising Call of Juarez franchise. For some reason, The Cartel abandoned everything the previous two Juarez titles had built upon and brought the franchise into the present. With everything going on with the USA-Mexican border, it was timely. But with the success of Red Dead Redemption it seemed like the Western genre was once again ripe for the picking.
Genre aside, The Cartel failed on just about every level. Wonky aiming, failing to shock with the overuse of the f-bomb and various stereotypes - you could go on and on. It was just too bad. The only good thing was the inclusion of co-op.
As revealed by The Gaming Liberty, Ubisoft is now asking members of their Uplay gaming community that certifiably played The Cartel what they want to see in the next Call of Juarez iteration via a survey. All the options seem to be centered around the Old West theme, including:
