EA Has a "Lack of Faith" in Mass Effect for Wii U?

Submitted by Christopher Groux; September 30, 2012

Nintendo's Wii U is certainly one of the most unique console gaming experiences to be headed to the market. After some initial brand confusion admitted by Nintendo earlier in the year however, many developers including EA have been rumored to have a lack of faith in the company's next-gen offering.

One of the more prominent ways that this supposed ambivalence toward the Wii U rears its ugly head is through the EA's cross-platform marketing plan with regards to their popular Mass Effect shooter series. While Mass Effect 3 is indeed coming to the system itself, that doesn't mean that things are necessarily in perfect peace from a development state of mind. Sure we love the idea of being able to use the console's unique controller as an additional map and director of important in-game action, but some say that this initial attempt is more of a trial than an actual done deal in terms of EA's dealings with the system.

After all, despite the franchise's appearance on the Wii U, the upcoming release of the Mass Effect trilogy for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC has no current home on any Nintendo platform. According so sources over at Neogaf, "EA did not expect Wii U owners to buy Mass Effect, anyway, so no point in porting over three games." This means that if ME3 does indeed happen to sell quite well in its next-gen iteration, it is possible we might eventually see things ported, but right now their  certainly exists at least a small shadow of doubt in what the Wii U can actually accomplish. Will you all be ready to play Mass Effect on Wii U, or do you think EA is better off playing it safe with the touchpad device for now?

well IMO EA is right to be wary of the Wii U and not cause its a Nintendo system but because of the target demo that Nintendo has

its mostly a kid/family system and frankly any self respecting Gamer will just go with M$ or $ony for Mass Effect

no hate on Nintendo cause I actually want to see them back on top but they wont even get close with the Wii U especially since they finally caught up with M$/$ony only to be left behind once again by the next Xbox and PS4

I agree with fate. Nintendo needs to stop trying to appeal only to families and children, and catch up with the industry. it's fine to have gimicks, but please dont let it define your system.

Id love to play the other mass effect games on wii u, I owned a 360 with the first couple mass effects and I would have loved to actually play through the whole games but over all the 360 was boring in game play compared to the nintendo games, i mean shoot there's no replay value in them besides maybe the connect games and a few others but I was bored after like 2 months lol i have more fun with a ds then a 360. I cant say much for the ps3 but i loved the playstion systems besides it.
