An interesting tweet popped up on our timeline earlier today. Xerpi has been developing a new library for the Wii. It's called the SickSaxis library and it will net you the ability to use both the Sixaxis and DualShock 3 controllers on your Wii console. He has posted a video demonstrating a controller working while connected to the Wii with the SickSaxis library opened. The video shows that the library is able to read input from the buttons, the accelerometer as well as toggle the LEDs and the vibration. Xerpi hasn't released the library officially as of yet. However, he will be releasing the source code for this at some point or another.
It's pretty neat that you can repurpose your PS3 controller as one for the Wii. It definitely saves from having to borrow or buy an entirely new controller or buy peripherals such as the Cronus USB to achieve the same effect. You can take a look at the demo video below.
