We've all heard plenty of cool things about the Wii U controller. For one, it will be used to help us play the games that we love. Sure smartphones have really helped to bring us in to the touch screen era of gaming, but the Wii U's gamepad wants to bring us that kind of experience on a much larger scale with the hope of changing the way we play games forever. Oh, and did we mention that this tactile wonder can even be used as a TV remote, or a secondary display while browsing the web? Even for fans of other consoles, there's a lot of cool little features lurking around inside one somewhat large remote.
However, as reported by ArsTechnica, there are some things we have yet to understand about this versatile device. In their own tear down of the gamepad, they have noticed a yet to be discussed small port that lies on the very bottom of the tablet. If you consult the user manual for more information, don't expect them to tell you much. All it says is that this port will be used for "additional accessories." As it stands right now, the original Wii's nunchuck is far to large to slide into the port, but it's possible that maybe a specialized version for the gamepad could be on the way. Upon closer analysis some have even speculated that the screw architecture points to an accessory that could be attached and screwed to the bottom. An additional battery pack then seems like a pretty reasonable thing to speculate about. As the release continues to march closer, hopefully all of these questions will gradually be answered!
