PSP E1000 A Waste Time

Submitted by HolmesInFive; February 07, 2012

Anybody else heard much about the PSP E1000?  Me neither.  Ever since the 2011 release of the downgraded simpleton of PSP's, just about nothing has been said or heard about the matte black waste of space.

With the console designed more for younger kids as a less expensive breakable, the handheld has been completely ignored by gamers of all shapes, sizes, ages and various hacking perogatives.

Has anyone in the PSP-Hacks community picked one up?  And if so, what do you think about it?  I personally think the console is a waste of time, with the PSP 3000 being only a slightly higher price it seems a bit redundant to get something far less capable for such a small price difference.

If you would like to know the list of differences with the PSP E1000, I wrote a brief article on it at 1337 Squad here.

I didn't expect Sony to be capable of a bigger failure than the PSP Go. It looks like I was wrong.

I've never seen one in stores, so I don't know if that PSP even made it for sale.

As far as I know it was only for Europe.

I live in Russia (... that means Europe for Sony, I guess)

And I've seen this PSP model in stores. We even have special advertisment all over in underground metro, streets, billboards, and so on...

My 11-year brother brought this thing home, because on of his classmates wanted to flash it. Permanent flash is impossible, but 6.60 PRO B10 was OK.

I checked the PSP itself also. It's heavier than my 3000 and doesn't have so good design. And missing WiFi... idiocy. This PSP isn't worth of it.

It is in Australia too.  Saw it in JB Hi-Fi for a stupid price.

of course you haven't heard of it... it is europe only (altough i'm european, i didn't see this thing either)

but yeah, seems like a gigantic waste to me tough. maybe that's why the gamemania and fun don't sell these :/

The price in Sweden is 799 kronor about €86.64 or $114.78.

Screen quality (colors, angles etc.) on E1000 is much worse than 3000... And there's no ability to change brightness level.((

Sony Marketing - "You know the PSP Go, well it didn't work out so well. Don't worry though, I've figured out how to monotize our failure. We do the exact opposite of what we did with the Go and make an all UMD PSP. It'll work just fine...

wholeheartedly disgree. own a go. love it. owned the first psp model back when it came out. if you dont actually own one and think you can talk shit, i think they refer to that as pretension or bigotry or ignorance.

thank you sony for my pspgo. it was a good idea and as mentioned on this very blog, people just werent ready for it. i was. again, thank you.

I dont understand the go. Why not just get a bigger memory card for a psp 3000, and be able to play UMDs. I did hear that the go has blutooth, so you can connect a playstation 3 controller to it, but other than that, whats the difference?

indeed only europe. i wonder why sony decided only on europe. there has to be some sort of implication there, aimed either at us in the US, the UK or both.

You can change brightness in the options, but there aren't any buttons for it.

The thing is , you can easily find a psp 1000 or 2000 under 99 pounds pre owned , so why bother buying the e1000 which has 1 speaker , no wifi and for all we know , is made for plastic that feels like it has been recycled from mcdonalds toys . Im sorry sony , but 99 pounds is not a budget price for this device , if they had lowered the price to maybe under 65 pounds , well then maybe you could call it a budget console worth buying ... It just feels a bit too cheap of a device to me for 99 pounds..

I love my Go. The only problem I have with it is the stupid camera adapter. Beside that I like it way more then the 1000

we all know the go sucked if it wasn't hacked and the E1000 having no wifi made no sences. it seems that sony just wanted to destract people from the upcoming psv launch and at the same time see what works. the lack of removable game dick was bad but the built in memory was a great idea. at least there are learning... sort of. we all think the psv should have had some internal memory weather it was 2,4,8, or even 16. if you know any thing about sonies products they make the best although that is not an exusse for 100$ 32gb card. i am getting the early release pre order with the 4 gig card but that is not enough for all the psn downloads i have. having internal memory would have also sold the E1000 sell better and the psv would be considered a much better buy. at least let the apps be downloadable to the hidden memory that we all know is there. now what would be better if ps3 games were playable on the ps3 in the sence that ther is 4-8 gb set for dumping some of the ps3 game to run at max effeciancy.

the system looks nice in my opinion but its not worth buying it, at least new, maybe a used one for 50 bucks might not be a bad idea

I have psp 2000 and psp go, and i think that GO is much better more portable I can take it in my pocket  16GB internal memory+8GB external memory bluetooth for connect with headset, ps3 controler (ps3 controller + tv component cable is great option in your house you can play on it lake a ps3) bluetooth keyboard. better screan (anti-reflective). I love it

And I agree with the that post

PSP E1000 A Waste Time

The psp go is THE BEST psp ever made, and it has the save state feature, it's just amazing, what do you need umd's for, to get scratched, lost and stolen, every umd game made for the psp has been iso'd by someone, and if you like a game that much make ur own iso and pop it on your amazing go :) it's faster and tougher than earlier models mine fell 2 stories multiple times on to dirt and works great still i had a psp explode on me like that, and dirts not hard. plus the laser going  bad, the inferior design of some of the components in the old psps + one of the best things of all, the ability to use a ps3 controller, i played hacked COD black ops on my psp through the remote play hack with a ps3 controller, worked well. the go was only a fail because people are afraid of epic leaps and bounds in tech, "they want a physical product", where as i think it's because everything that's not on a copy protected chip or disk of some sort gets pirated way faster not because people want it, they just dont wanna lose like they did when the psp got cracked wide open, then the ps3.

PSP E1000...I still see these in stores in Australia, an absolute joke of an idea.Pretty much rules out alot of  the good stuff  like multiplayer.Definitely worse than a go .Go wasn't even that bad either

Such a shame that the 3k isnt sold here anymore (Netherlands). The E1000 is indeed cheap and feature-less BUT it has a VERY VERY long lasting battery! I can play it like 7 hours on lowest brightness with sound off or very low while my broken 3k (memory stick slot broken, thus requires new motherboard) can play UMDs only for like 3 hrs on lowest brightness with wifi and sound off and muted. BAD THINGS: Heavy, weak back plate/UMD cover (use ISOs instead), one speaker, no mute/brightness buttons and no WLAN. PROs: €99, good battery, nice button design (looks like a touchpad) UMD slot instead of the UMD-less GO, PSP SLIM color (Charcoal Black is nice).
