In case you haven't heard of Simple Shoot Alpha before, it is essentially a homebrew version of the popular Atari game we know to be Asteroids. As was the goal in that older game, here it is your job as a tiny space ship to shoot all of the many objects and enemies that try to get in your way. Certainly as this is a very simply coded effort the graphics may not be something to behold for future generations, but from a gameplay perspective, everything you would want to have happen is right there for you. Your craft moves at the push of a button and with a quick tap of the circle or square keys you'll be pumping out bullets left and right.
For this version in particular, you'll be looking at some overall performance improvements that include faster gameplay, the ability to die when your HP reaches 0, and three designated spawn points to avoid more frustrating deaths. Additionally, there are also four different ammo types and a full options menu with save states to customize your game. If you have been playing this one in the past, this is a pretty worthwhile revision. For new players, nubek continues to remind you that on first boot the screen will remain blank until you hit the right arrow. Relive the classic gaming days with something fresh like this homebrew!
