Wololo Confirms 6.20 HEN is 100% Legit

I just want to post this because it's so awesome -- 6.20 TN (HEN) -- a kernel exploit for PSP firmware 6.20 from none other than Total_Noob! Can you believe it? I mean really, that's awesome. And now Wololo can confirm it 100% legit and working on a PSP-3000. That's even more awesome.

Again, real quick from the top -- Total_Noob discovered a kernel exploit sometime ago, he's advanced and has worked hard on it, and now "6.20 TN" (HEN) is nearing a release. What's HEN do? HEN is a Homebrew Enabler (remember ChickHEN?) that stays active in PSP memory, which means you can launch homebrew without having to listen to those annoying Patapon creatures each time. Mind you -- you do need the Patapon 2 Demo and HBL initially to exploit the kernel vulnerability. It's like this: From a cold boot, your PSP being completely shut off -- you first boot it, load Patapon (or Hot Shots), load HBL, and select HEN. You're then brought back to the XMB. Now you can launch homebrew, anything and everything -- the faster way, straight from the XMB. Your PSP can even go in and out of sleep mode and still you're good. We can expect a release in November, I think. Before Christmas anyway. By the way, anyone bought a PSP lately? What firmware are they shipping with now? - source: wololo

@Brandon, it isnt a shortcut to flash in the memory, because if we could flash anything to the "Flash0" then we would have a fully flashed (CFW) PSP, not trying to start an argument, this is just a hole in the firmware to launch the HBL, then they used a hole in the kernel to temporarily patch the "glitched kernel" with one that will run unsigned code (HEN). It is possible to make a CFW off of this, since it is a kernel exploit, which can reach the internal memory, but it is going to take quite a while to get the CFW out. since they changed all the encryptions for all the prx's and all that nonsense, not including bugs and stuff.

Hey Newbie , This kernal hack means that homebrews can run at full speed (much faster than HBL) and more homebrews will be functional

And about the ISOs and CSOs at first you wont be able to play you will need a Homebrew to run them through that "Should" be made after the release , but i dont think anyone has taken the job yet .

I asked yesterday in the shop what firmware the PSP-3000 ships with (FYI, it was a Japanese Carnival Color model).
It took me some time to get the answer, as not many japananese speak english and I have no idea how to ask what firmware is on the psp in Japanese :P.

I'm 99% sure this exploit will work on a Go. Hell, you could do it by writing a homebrew program that loads the hacked Tiff image from ChickHEN couldn't you? The only reason ChickHEN stopped working was because Sony removed Tiff support from the Photo Viewer.

In response to Greg's question, do you have a reason to believe Sony isn't shipping new PSP's at 6.31? I thought as soon as a new OFW was released, Sony began setting it as the Factory FW for new PSPs. :/

Finally, just making sure (never used ChickHEN other than testing it on my 5.00-m33 2000) HENs support .prx plugins like DayViewer and GameCategories right? Thanks in advance

it could load a cfw loader since cfw requires kernal acess but theres no cfw for the TN HEN Yet. and the hen will not load any iso cause theres no iso loader and idk bout the downgrading with hellacat recovery flasher cause its a possiblity it might brick your psp 3000 since its diffrent hardware or it might work. theres rumors that TN is going to release a downgrader but idk if its true.

hellcat flasher will Not work with 3000s. since 5.70 is its launch day firmware, thats the lowest we can go. 1000 and 2000 can use it tho. idk if this hen will load prx plugins. chickHEN did but that was a huge project. idk if we copied the prx files into the flash0 tho. maybe. i have a homebrew that claims to do this. now with iso loading. xplora would work but at jurassic speeds. it would grind soo slow ur hands would start peeling. a dedicated iso loader would be needed. or just wait for a 6.20 cfw.

@legendarymidge t if you are running cfw already, the recovery should work fine to downgrade to 1.50. just make sure you have a clean 1.50 pbp and rec. flasher offers 150 firmware option(should be on main screen).
