[WIP] Kernel Exploit Found and 6.20 TN (HEN) to be Released

Breathing a little life back into the scene is Total_Noob, well known and respected PSP hacker / developer, who has claimed to discover a kernel exploit in PSP firmware 6.20. Yessir. Total_Noob is currently working on 6.20 TN, which behaves like HEN. Remember HEN? It's a homebrew enabler unlike HBL. HEN remains active & resident in memory leaving you able to launch homebrew directly from the XMB after HEN's initial execution, which appears to be done through HBL.

The video demos the kernel exploit; though it isn't that clear. You can see Total_Noob executes something from an HBL menu and the screen flashes purple near the end. That purple flash indicates the exploit was successful. No mention of whether or not firmwares > 6.20 are exploitable by the same means. This all seems very promising, and with a kernel exploit, the possibilities are nearly endless. Perhaps soon we'll see fully hacked PSP-3000s and PSPgos! Total_Noob is aiming to release 6.20 TN before Christmas. So whatever you do -- do not update past 6.20 -- if you haven't already. Good lookin' Total_Noob! Oh thank God, Good to see the PSP hack team make such a strong comeback. It suffered quite a devastating blow when we were told that HBL got shut down, especially when they were making such great progress. Can't wait, I'm sure I'm not the only one that had a strange affinity towards the PSPGo. I liked it for it's compact nature and improved screen quality, though the buttons were a little cramped and the shoulder buttons were too close to the system but it had internal memory. Plus it fit into the pocket nicely and had blue tooth. That could lead to some really cool hacks and also that "piggy backing ability" for wireless conectivity. It has a lot of potential that can only come from the brilliant world of PSP Homebrew.

Well HEN's can have full homebrew compatibility and can allow plugins, ctf themes, etc. also it stays active till you shut off your psp. so just keep in sleep mode.

Ok i did some refining and i came to the following conclusions:

1. The folder he opened was named "HEN"
2. The 1st message that was displayed is "rebooting into HEN mode"
3. The 3rd msg was "Enjoy The HEN but Please Be ....."

I doubt you speak the truth, I'm sure you can't code a "DELETISO" .PRX. Furthermore, not everyone uses .ISO's for piracy, this is a common misunderstandin g. By the 1K/2K era, people just didn't want to carry dozens of UMD's around, so ripping and copying them to a MS was a blessing. Now, many people like me could use this function ~without~ turning to piracy. I have a Go! myself, and many titles (such as FFT:TWOTL, CC:FFVII, etc.) aren't available on the PSN Store, so ripping my ol' UMD and playing it on my Go! would be awesome. Sure, there are people who love to download games illegally, and I really don't care, do whatever you want with your CFW, I'm just saying some people don't.

Don't bother. Any new Go you buy now will ship with fw later than 6.20.

Anyone who didn't buy a Go before this news is still SOL for now. BUT, many people said the Go would never get CFW, and if this news is accurate, total_noob has just proven that wrong. So buying a Go immediately and waiting for a CFW 6.31 (or whatever fw you get) may not be a bad idea.

Great work total_noob. I hope an iso loader comes from this news because I can't wait to play Crisis Core, Every Extend Extra, & Neverland Card Battles on my Go :)

I HIGHLY DOUBT you will be able to downgrade any of the new PSP's (PSP 2k unhackable and 3k). You know why? Because FLASH 0 CANNOT BY OVERWRITTEN WITHOUT THE PSP BRICKING.

To overwrite flash 0, one would need a similar method to the Pandora + MMS method. Though we would need to decrypt and reinsert the pre-ipl and the ipl.

These ideas were all thought of before the PSP even came out. They've been in our labs for a long time and just now got to making them into the firmware. I along with others don't believe this even to be true. You can't load a kernal exploit through a user mode exploit. All my co-workers believe the same. As for HBL I'm glad it's over!

Comments like this are such a load of crap. The uploaders are not the pirates. Anyone can make a backup of a legitimate game they own. That's not illegal. They can even post it somewhere so that others may use said backup as their own backup (ie downloading a game you own isn't illegal). If someone downloads a game they don't own, THAT is piracy. Don't try to say it's the uploader's fault.

Furthermore, the economy is no excuse for piracy. We're not talking about stealing bread so you can eat. I saw another comment here saying "Not everyone is American and has money to buy games!" First off, even many Americans are short on cash right now. Most middle-class people are shifting to lower-class. But to argue that "I don't have money to buy that game, so I'll just steal it" is retarded logic. You don't NEED to play that game. If you can't afford it -- just wait until you can or don't play it. Or rent it.

I'm not trying to get high and mighty here and say "Piracy is wrong and there's no excuse for it!!!" I'm just saying, let's call piracy what it is and not try to make excuses for it. The point is not to punish those that don't because SOME people do. Do we stop making cars because SOME people steal those? I'm pretty sure selling CFW as opposed to just releasing it for free is even MORE illegal. Sort of like covering a song by another band and selling that track. You created the cover yourself, but without permission to sell it, the song's original artist can sue you. However, you CAN cover that song and NOT sell it, and there is nothing the original artist can do.

I'm not sure, but I would assume it's probably a similar situation.

I have ideals how to flashing the PSP-3000:

6.20 GEN-A for HEN

Get a 6.20 pspbtcnf_03g.bin then compile it to .c, then
open with the notepad++ then add command: kd/prxloader_03g.prx

Then save the changes, and compile it back to original ~PSP file.

Make a prxloader_03g.prx with next commands:

\kd\systemctrl_ 03g.prx, \kd\vshctrl.prx, etc...

The most important thing is the prxloader is will load all
cfw files.

Use a Lua or something to copy CFW files into flash:

Replace the original pspbtcnf to hacked pspbtcnf.
Writing files into flash.

I hope this idea is will help.
