Recovery Menu v1.0 Released; A New Look for the Recovery Console

Submitted by greg; May 03, 2010

Tired of staring at the same ol' recovery console? All that boring green (or red) text on that non-wavy black background... Man oh man... It's time for a change, and making that change is CoD3r-D Ceikor with Recovery Menu v1.0.

Recovery Menu replaces the recovery console with an XMB-like interface. If you're spending a lot of time in recovery (hold R-Trigger on a fresh boot), tinkering with your configuration perhaps, then this is for you. To install: activate USB on Flash0 and copy the files to vsh/module. And you should probably create a backup first. Download: Recovery Menu v1.0 - source: pspgen

Looks very nice. Does it add any new features or is it just pretty?

I would just like to say that this was originally developed by Ceikor...not CoD3r-D

I actually like the old recovery theme. It's the hacking atmosphere that it provides.

BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WITH THIS!
If you have a custom theme an Ultimate VSH Menu it can fully brick your PSP. Happened to me just now. No green LED when I insert a pandora and it does not boot.

Well, I was actually able to finally get the pandora to work, but it took a while. So, just be very careful with this.

I think it is safe to say that the regular Recovery Console does the job more than fine and is much more compatible and safer.

Intresting new look, but the normal one just spells out hacker. Also, i went to start up the internet and it gave me the blue screen that if im right is Sonys way of telling you your screwed. Everythings fine now, just restored the module folder in the flash.

i always see red :)

about time something like this came out ive always been waiting for a diffrent look in the recovery menu!

im gonna try this when i get home later, but by the comments ^^^ it sounds like it needs to be improved. owell though! its a great idea its just one of those features the psp CFW needs.

things i would like to see is the vsh menu itself made better, and an actual menu with options that comes up when u press HOME to leave a game, like on the ps3 :) ---things like that---

Does it work with D2 and 5.00 m33 or just D3?

I couldn't disable/enable plug-ins either, and it didn't even list all my plug-ins. it's like it restricts it to one screen worth or something.

I don't know, it could be cool...but I'm gonna stick with the standard recovery menu until this brings something genuinely new to the table.

Don't like this programm.. Standart recovery is much more better, this hasn't any additional functions and uncomfortable. No reasons to instal, I think.

I like the look and feel of the bare recovery menu - but then again I'm also a user of the Fluxxee theme because that looks and feels basic too. Perhaps I'm just a fan of basics.

...Seriously? Pretty graphics for a recovery menu?

People, the entire purpose of that menu is to be able to fix things even if the entire system is hosed. It's not supposed to be pretty. Pretty graphics means more code to load them and display them and animate them, and that means more can go wrong. It takes up more space (so more likely to get corrupted), it has more code (so more likely to have a bug), and it relies on more things (thus more likely to "go down with the ship").

A recovery menu is supposed to work in every possible case so you can repair things, not look pretty and fail when you really need it because some useless graphic files got screwed up along with the rest of the system.

Its a piece of crap! all it does it allow u to look at ur plugins, not enable/disable them. Ive resorted to using PSPconsole's plugin Manager for now, will restore module folder when Win7 arrives, Vista finally conked out on me lol

The idea here is silly, this relies on many of the F0 resources... It's a really bad idea to keep this as your only recovery menu. The original recovery menu was kept as basic as possible so that it could _almost_ always be launched no matter what. It relies on nothing psp specific to be launched. If you actually need the recovery menu to fix your bricked psp, this app will not always work depending on the type of brick. Be very careful using this.
