PSP2 Development Unit: It's Real & Powerful

While this isn't directly related to PSP hacks or homebrew, if you haven't noticed the Dashhacks news ticker at the top, then you should know it's been reported that developers are indeed working with the PSP2, right now. That's awesome. A new Mortal Kombat is in the works and here's what Executive Producer, Shaun Himmerick had to say when asked "about the possibility of a version of Mortal Kombat on the current PSP or the upcoming 3DS" --

Were not launching day one on all consoles like that. We are looking at them; we have a PSP2 in the house and were looking at the engine, like what can it support. Always a big thing for us is the performance. Were running at 60 fps, what can we do and do we have to build all the art assets over. Were definitely looking at them. PSP2 looks like its a pretty powerful machine. We dont have a 3DS system in house yet, but were looking to get one, and well certainly look at what its power is.

the psp2 will probly never be hacked.if it will.it will probly just be kept to the developers.hey..they might even make a video rubbing it in our faces..my psp has been laying around for a while so i decided to sell it to my little cusion to get the new ipod touch 4g.the fun addicting games never run out on the app store.i had my psp for a month and it got boring.so for now ill be hanging around the iphone forums.thnx psp hacks for being a great site while i was still interested.

iphone does have good games and addicting games two but none of them has a story that will leave you wanting more and more thats why i prefer psp

Well, we'll see what sony has to offer, I just hope that there's a compatibility mode (PSP, PSX, Minis etc.) and it has a second num/analogue stick.

im sure there will be early system exploits and either way finding a buffer overload exploit cant be that difficult, i wonder if they'll have a psp2 slim? i mean what else would they add? it'll have all features of the psp3000 im sure or the N1000, hope it'll be cool ^_^

I doubt there will be early exploits on this PSP2.

It will probably be like pspgo, before release everyone was like "omg it will be completely hacked!".

Rigth now, pspgo its still unhackeable, only some of them can run HBL as far as i know.

I hope they post Specs, Tegra 2 would be amazing to see powering the device + 2nd (more functional than the last psp) Analog/Joystick.

I want Microsoft to make a portable gaming system. Nintendo and Playstation already got portables.
I'm pretty sure Microsoft will beat them.

PSP 2 will be gay if it isn't touch and doesn't have 2 analogs.

Surprisingly even if this isnt hackable if it looks good I may buy it. Ive been through uncountable psp's cause i used to fix and sell them back when the psp scene was hot but now my hacked 2000 just sits there. i only use it for movies when im goin on a far drive, a second ps3 controller or to play gba or snes. I think its time the psp be laid to rest and a new version comes out.

I expect the PSP2 to one up the 3DS in terms of graphics, and maybe if we're lucky, give it some actual good controls. I'm not hatin on the PSP, I have one. but the controls have their flaws.

I imagine they'll put out some other gimmick to use as a selling point as well.

idk i think id rather microsoft to just keep out of the handheld market and work on the xbox

their quality went waaaaay down, ive owned both an xbox (got one when it came out) and a 360 (although a bit later) the xbox was great but my 360 is falling apart and i use it a lot less then i did the original xbox!

PS. forgot the controllers from the 360 are much better though and games are better than PS3 if you ask me.

i was reading that the psp 2 will run on an altered version of the android os. i'm sorry but sonys worst move is to get rid of buttons and replace with touchscreen... KEEP THE BUTTONS!!!!!so if the android os is used with buttons then i'm cool.....

Yeah... I think Sony learned from their mistakes and finally figured out security. I doubt we'll see any more consoles developed by Sony that are fun to hack. They'll probably all be a pain in the ass to hack.

i think(and hope) psp2 will be hacked because every system has holes in software for exploits. take 3000 for example.peeps thought it wasnt gonna be hacked and there it is. running 5.03 gen and 5.03 prometheus. so hopefully it will be hacked real soon.

Honestly people, not everyone is for stealing games. If they would just charge what the games are actually worth ($20-30) how many of you would really have a problem with that? Not to mention give the U.S and the U.K all of the games. our stores dont carry shit. It also seems like they did a good job for the pspgo. Allowed us to get homebrew working and nothing more. i made a point somewhere

Indeed, the PSP does have a pretty solid library of games, but I can't justify paying $40 for a portable game, with the exception of Peace Walker (there is SO MUCH to do, it was worth the money).

Every other game I've bought, I've waited until I could buy it used, or it was 1 year+ old and was down to half the price.

well psp hacking kinda died being we hacked all we could possibly do to this machine. not to mention all of are devs went to iphone ps3 and 360 hacking. when psp2 hits the market you can bet the hackers will be hacking it to see what they can do. its like xbox original hacking when the 360 came out the scene all but died.

Hey you never know ! New device means new hardware , new software , and new vulnerabilities for us hackers to find ! I think Sony will get cocky and think they covered all their bases and will leave a gap in there security somewhere , and several company's are in trouble for stopping people from using Custom Firmware , such as apple not allowing jail-breaking the iphone and ipod , and now the Sony is looking at some future lawsuits for stopping people from putting Linux on the ps3 , same thing with the xbox 360 , and probably the psp in the future , if enough people kick up a fuss because their psp got bricked ! So maybe we will get a lawsuit !
