PSP Official Firmware (OFW) 6.37 Released

Sony makes a move... Available now via Network Update is a new official PSP firmware version -- version 6.37. Whatever you do -- do not update -- not yet. What's new? This, apparently... "This is a minor update that improves system software stability during use of some features." Yeah, eh. We'll keep you posted. Update: Mathieulh shares some insight on 6.37...

To all the people that care about kernel mode on psp, the scepower exploit is fixed in the 6.37 firmware . Avoid the update. "Signed" usermode apps just run fine mind you. (although they fixed a couple of (now useless) usermode exploits.)

This means signed [user-mode] homebrew still works on firmware 6.37; ISO loaders and other kernel mode dependent homebrew will not ... for now.

i recently using 6.31. then i update to using 6.35 two days past ( 17 jan 2011 ) and i try as they told but i can't play the game. when i sellect the iso game. my psp 3001 loop to main page XMB menu. i try it more than 5 times how bored waaaaaaa. everybody's sukkiri not responding to.

Thats right. One thing I have noticed is if I leave my Pandora Battery in (without actually booting to Pandora) the PSP will not boot. This is OFW 6.35 its doing it on.

I'm gonna stay at 6.35 for a while now, just so I can sign some Eboots and test properly. If I can succeed to sign a good number of apps / emulators etc except to see a new version of PSP Installer Deluxe from me in the near future.

You can't have CFW on 6.37. There's no kernel exploit. You can't downgrade 6.37, there's no kernel exploit. You NEED a kernel exploit for ISOs, CFW, plugins ect ect. Signed homebrew is only usermode homebrew, which even HBL can run better.

No, there IS plugin support for 6.35PRO. You just need to make a folder called "plugins" instead of "seplugins".

I've included a download link to an archive I made with a few plugins that actually work, which contains the following:

- CXMB with two themes.
- TempAR with the latest cheat database.
- VSH Menu Light Version 4.
- PSNLover Beta 1.2.

It's only been out for like a day or two in the US, but I hear someone's already working on chickHEN for it. I still had 6.2 and was about to get one of the other HENs. If it were as easy as you think, there wouldn't be TN HEN or PRO HEN because we could just port ChickHEN. psp support has died now any ways from sonys end. for that last few months there has been less and lees being put out for the psp not because of hackers but because units of the psp arent moving that well and because most development is being directed at the psp phone and the psp2.
hacking will never stop and i dont think sony will ever stop supporting devices based on hackers. the legal to hacked game ratio its higher in sonys favor. most people dont hack there hardware. i think the psp is dead in the water and attention is being focused towards the next gen hand held.

You know that HEN stands for "Homebrew Enabled"...
And HEN is something much older than even the PSP2000. It has consisted of different exploit trough the years. I first used HEN to install CFW. There was a TIF exploit that enabled HEN back in the days. And sony has blocked them all. But to believe that we wont see another kernel exploit is not realistic. Hackers dont give up that easy

Just a tip cuz i read some ppl updating to play PSP2 and so on...Phantasy Star Portable 2 and other online multiplayer games using psn to play works fine with 6.35 pro u dont need at all to update to 6.37 since a new exploit come in game =) just letting u guys know.

Oh my god! I can't play my game and I read online that maybe I should update my firmware, so I updated my firmware to 6.37 and now what!

Even worse! Not that I can't play that 1 and only game, I can't play any games now!

I went to all computer shops that customize OFWs of PSPs in my area til Alabang. I even went to pro technicians and they told me that as of today's, there are no available CFWs for PSP GO 6.37. It could take a longer time before creators of CFWs could make one for this. I purchased mine in Los Angeles, California so mine is a North American Version. I found a way to download games but with through purchasing games in the Media GO which Sony owns. I got the response from Sony Playstation based in the US. I haven't purchased a game yet but if ever I'll be, I won't do it online, I'll just buy the scratchable card and just get the code of the game to input to my PSP GO system. I'll be purchasing the scratchable game card in the US again and I'll inform you if it was successful or not. This is so far the only way to use the PSP GO V6.37 since there are no released CFWs for our units yet.

You are correct. The reason why there are only selected games that can run on your unit is simply because your unit is not yet customized. What PSP are you using? Mine is a PSP GO with an Original Firmware (OFW)V6.10 which I accidentally upgraded to OFW V6.37. Unfortunately, no one has ever created a CFW yet for PSPs with an OFW V.637.

Downgrading an OFW 6.37 is not possible. Even professional technicians would not suggest doing that as would it not guarantee that your unit will run normally after doing the procedure of downgrading. It will just destroy the sytem itself. Caution: Don't let any personnel in any computer shops make your unit as their testing object. Just wait for the release of a truly tested and working CFW for OFW V6.37. It might take a really long time though but at least your unit is not destroyed. I also live in the Philippines but I purchased mine in the US.

Do you know a tested and proven way to downgrade a PSP GO V6.37. That's with an OFW and not CFW yet. I accidentally upgraded my PSP GO V6.10 into V6.37 through Media Go by Sony and now it's not possible to customize its firmware. The only way I can download game on my unit so far is through purchasing game from Sony Playstation company. But of course it is really costy - $9.99, $29.99 and $39.99 are the only prices for each game. Please let me know if you have any information. Thank you! Have a great day!

There are available games on the internet that can run on PSP with an OFW V6.37 that are for free. They are in the EBOOT.PBP format. Sometimes they are still in the .RAR format but you can convert them into EBOOT.PBP. You need a converter application though but downloadable through the internet. There are free converters but sometimes hard to find a correct kind of converter as they sometimes convert raw files like .RAR into a different format and not the EBOOT.PBP file you needed. I am also new in the PSP world but I was so persistent to know everything as much as possible. I have no instructor or any one else except my desktop and my laptop. By the way, where did you purchase your PSP unit and what PSP system do you have (PSP1000, 2000, 3000, GO)? I am from the Philippines but mine was purchased in the US. Did you also know that the reason why PSP gamers quarrel about the best CFWs to be used though they have the same PSP system is because there is/are only specific CFW(s) depending in which country they purchased theirs or which country their unit(s) are/were made in? Even those ultimate and long been gamers never knew that. There are programmers and IT experts that test different kinds of PSP systems that were purchased from different countries or were made in different countries. There are some units that behave differently after customizing them like making some games were unoperable and/or were unable to maximize the full feature of the CFWs they used. My unit is a North American Version with an OFW 6.10 which I accidentally updated to OFW 6.37. There are lots of computer shops here that can customize OFW 6.10 to 6.20 to make ISO files operable. Since mine is now 6.37, the security level of Sony Playstation to void its warranty was raised. You cannot downgrade them for there is no guarantee now that your unit will be damaged or completely destroyed. Since CFWs for OFW 6.37 haven't been created yet, my other to have great and fully operable games is to purchase games from Sony Media Go. They are quite expensive though compared to the cost of downloading ISO/CSO games. $9.99, $29.99 and $39.99 are the denominations I have seen so far. The newly released are always in the $39.99 but there are tons of all time great games in the $9.99. I am now in touch with the Sony company itself for some advice (while the CFW for OFW 6.37 has not been created). I've been receiving emails and surveys from them. I haven't purchased signed games from Sony yet because I was busy at the moment with some matters. I don't have time to purchase one yet for I will not buy online. I'll buy games in the US(in California). I'll inform you whenever I have purchased and installed signed games from them. I hope you find my opinion/comment helpful. See you after! I had jotted down 2 URLs that share their eboot games or .rar files convertible to eboot but unfortunately, I lost the copy. I didn't search for it anymore since the games in the 1st URL are so oldies and with bad graphics. The other URL consists of really awesome games but haven't really finished downloading one 'cause they are slow to download (700mb to 1 or 2gb per game, and they are unconverted yet and in several parts like those games which have parts 1,2&3). I like the games in the 2nd URL but I don't know or what to do with games that have several parts. I don't know in which folder in my PSP to put them and what to do with them to make them run. I've always been generous and kind but honestly, I lost it. I would, of course, let you know the site or URL of free eboot games if I still have it. It's not mine and for free anyway. (And someone just warned me not to tell the site of free games I know in public or I'll be voiding the agreement to some sites I signed for. Phew! That was close!) I'm not using, downloading or playing any game from those sites anymore anyway. I now have 3 full versions of games from Sony and my younger brother is enjoying it. I'm currently planning on purchasing new games like Tekken 5 or 6 at BestBuy in Los Angeles. I think there are game cards called PSN Cards too available in the Philippines (if you're using PSP Go) but they are not as widely available as in the US. Check out Market!Market!( Is it in Taguig?) But try to know the version of your PSP system before purchasing a game. Not the firmware version but in which country your unit originally has to be market before it was imported to your country. By the way, are you from the Philippines? My PSP Go was purchased in L.A. so it's a North-American Version. I heard that some PSP Go units don't accept PSN Cards made for other countries (e.g North-American PSP and for Japan PSN Card). I'm just not sure if that is true or just a speculation. **Create an Account first at Playstation Network before purchasing game cards. i can play on my ofw 6.37 like god of war, minis games,call of duty,naruto,etc by converting them to eboot file. you need to download psp iso2eboot to your pc thats all for now.

its not as goodas a cfw but there is a softwareiso2ebo ot v2 which converts isos to eboot files and theyworkon ofw.ihaveofw 6.37and the games r working fine.howevertill now it only suppots isos till 728mb in size.but its a goodway to wait for the 6.37cfw
