PSP Firmware 6.20 Released; PSPgo Exploit Patched

Update: Hate to say I told ya so... But FreePlay has confirmed it -- the recently discovered PSPgo save game exploit has been patched in firmware 6.20. Womp waaa...

You may miss it if you're using 5.50 GEN-D2... That reports the latest version of the system software is already installed, which is no longer the case... Firmware 6.20 is live right now. What's new? Straight from Eric Lempell:

Digital Comics Reader – PlayStation Network Digital Comics is a new service launching in December. It will allow you to download hundreds of classic and new comics from the PlayStation Store and read them page by page or frame by frame on your PSP system. Firmware update (v6.20) includes the Digital Comics reader application, which youll find under a new section called Extras on the XMB. Please note, the comic reader is an additional download; once youve loaded (v6.20) onto your system, simply click on the comic reader icon under Extras to download it to your PSP. In addition, youll be able to try out a free digital comic sample from the service soon. Visit www.playstationcomics.com for more information.
Export video/photo playlists – This is a new feature that allows you to export your video and photo playlists from your PC to your PSP system through Media Go. Download the latest version of Media Go (v1.3) for this and a few additional enhancements.

I wouldn't be updating so quickly if you're a PSPgo owner, or an owner of any Pandora-proof PSP for that matter... Wait and see whether or not this update patches the recently discovered/rumoured exploit that my main man Beaker covered earlier last week. We'll keep you posted. Download: PSP Firmware 6.20

I kinda had to download it because I wanted to get assasin's creed, but I was wondering that in the new extra section of the xmb is there going to be downloadable apps? When you click on the comic thing it says you need to download the app data. This leads me to believe there are going to be more apps for the psp.

I have a feeling this means a 5.50 GEN-E or GEN-D3 will be coming out shortly with the 6.20 keys in it. Also, I heard that Yoshihiro is going to be taking a look at working on a 6.X CFW.

The Digital Comics app has a built in MP3 player and creates a BOOK folder on your memory stick. The free sample download isnt available yet. I quess we will have to look forward for some Sargent Rock or Magnus-Robot Fighter.

If I remember correctly the reason that DA didn't update his CFW was because it didn't bring anything new to the PSP.

I personally think we wont hear from DA anymore... but that's just my 2 cents.

The free demo is now online. Use EC2N-9HBR-HJD6 on a 6.20 PSP only. Media Go does not work. The format inside the BOOK folder is a .MNB file. Also a MLN_ROOT + LICENSE folder is created. Its about 45mb in size. Looks good and you can play your MP3s while reading. Now for some Zap Comics and Heavy Metal.
