PSP Custom Firmware Updates

Submitted by greg; August 24, 2011

Just whatcha'll been waiting for: Liquidzigong & Coldbird's custom firmware 6.60 PRO-B9. And in addition to that: neur0n has updated LCFW & CFW 6.39 ME and CFW 6.60 ME. So whatever custom firmware you're flashin' -- it's time to update. The change log and supported PSP models for each custom firmware can be found on their respective download page, except the 6.60 PRO-B9 change log, which other than 6.60 support I'm not sure what's new... Share the official changes via the comments if you know what's up, otherwise you can review PRO-B9 dev. changes as they happen here. Downloads: PSP CFW 6.60 PRO-B9 PSP CFW 6.60 ME-1.2 PSP CFW 6.39 ME-9.4 PSP LCFW 6.39 ME-9.4 - source: @neur0ner (me) | google code (pro)

*Please use proper grammar.

Steps:
1. To install PRO-B9 custom firmware, update to 6.60 official firmware.
2. Download the 6.60 PRO-B9 CFW and extract it to your GAME folder of your PSP (ms0:/PSP/GAME).
3. Run PROUPDATE from your PSP and install the CFW (press X when the screen is black with white text).
4. Delete PROUPDATE as you will use the FastRecovery application when the PSP is fully turned off.
5. CIPL_Flasher is only for PSP 1000 and hackable 2000's only, so if your PSP is not one of those, delete that folder instead.

Note: ISO/CSO games go in the ISO folder of your memory stick (ms0:/ISO).

You don't really have to update as you seem to have good progress on 5.50 CFW. You might update to get access to PSN (I don't know if it is accessible on 5.50), or you might update to simply stay on the latest CFWs.

Are you talking about CXMB? That plugin might not be supported on 6.60 CFW yet, and it might have to be updated by the developer soon.

Stay at 6.39 while it looks to be the most stable than others, so when the 6.60 take a update stable for PRO just update your firmware to use it.

Hi there everyone :)

I'm new to the whole PSP CFW scene and recently installed PRO-B8 on my PSP-1000; I'd like to learn more about CFW as I'm quite interested in it and I just wanted to know, what is the difference between PRO and ME? Also, is it okay to ask a question in the comments or should I really post in the forum? Just asking so I don't annoy anyone in the future :)

Yes! I've been waiting for a pro-b9 update. I liked how I could switch back and forth between the ofw and cfw. Made it much easier to use with my PS3. Since got rid of my PSP, but I've been looking into getting a PSPgo for a while now. Once I get one, this baby is going on there!

Thanks for the update, and keep up the great work!

If you are sporting a 1000 you have a lot of choices. Personally, I recommend ME because like the person below has already said it actually installs a new ipl. Unless I am mistaken, which I might be PRO does not. The perma patch does not either I think, it does something else that causes it to boot with certain modules loaded at start. They both have different features. ME can dual boot custom firmware and Offical firmware. (Hold home as PSP cold boots to boot official firmware).

I have a new PSP 3000 9g. I got it running 6.39 ProB8. It is running great with the recovery every time I restart it. However I want to update to 6.60. I am just worried. So I update ofw to 6.60 and just do the 6.60 pro update then just use the recovery like I have been?

I had a 1.50 PSP years ago and used alot of Dark Alex stuff. But it has been a couple years since I had a psp. So I am trying to get back up to speed.

Well, new custom firmwares allow to run PS1 games IF they convert it to the proper extension. Search psp-hacks for the converter. The time depends on how big the game is. This is the info I got: 100 mb = 17mb/s transfer

in deciding, consider things.. like number of cxmb themes there are, and which support your favorite themes.. if you will play the latest games.. and/or online.. ps1 and emulator performance.. things like that.. and with all the tools and instructions available, it's just a little bit of your time to test them for yourself to see what's best for you. it's great. good fun. i love it.
