Hack-master neur0n isn't the only one holding the scene down -- released [semi] fresh is PSP Custom Firmware PRO-B6 from Liquidzigong! It's for anyone running 6.20, 6.35 or 6.39. And it's compatible with just about every PSP model and revision too.
Compatibility
- 6.20 [1g, 2g, 3g, 4g, 5g]
- 6.35 [1g, 2g, 3g, 4g, 5g, 7g, 9g]
- 6.39 [1g, 2g, 3g, 4g, 5g, 7g, 9g]
Features
- Homebrew Compatible - Run your own unsigned applications, both user and kernel mode.
- Plugin Compatible - Add new features to your PSP via kernel mode background plugins.
- ISO / CSO Game Dump Playback - Backup your own UMD discs via USB and play them from Flash Storage.
- 2g+ Memory Range Unlock - Use the previously locked RAM range within your own homebrews.
- NODRM Engine - Use your bought DLCs, no matter on which PSN account you are currently logged in.
- PSX Emulator Unlock - Play your PSX classics, yes - all of them. Not just PSN titles.
- And a lot more...
As for the PRO-B6 change log, I'm not sure... 6.39 support is obviously new and it's a safe bet some bugs have been squashed. The actual change log is not included nor mentioned on the new Google Code project page (follow source link).
How do you install it? Check this page out.
Update: And the change log says...
- [!]Fixed NODRM Engine on Dissidia Duodecim
- [!]Fixed High Capacity Bug
- [!]Fixed Bug in np9660
- [!]Fixed button-input related startup freeze
- [!]Fixed rare crash in exploiting stage
- [+]Added 6.39 Kernel Support

I tried it on my Day One PSP-1000 and it wouldn't do anything. After applying the update, it would just take me right back to the PSP menu.
It would allow me to play homebrew just fine, but I can't get to the program to play ISO/CSO or rip UMD games to my memcard.
I asked a friend, and he thought it may be my battery. I don't have a Pandora battery, so yeah.
But, I just got a brand new PSP-3000 a few days ago. It shipped with 6.37. I updated it to 6.39.
Apply the Pro b6 and same thing. It reboots the PSP, but comes up with the main PSP menu. Again, it allows me to play the homebrew, but nothing regarding ISO/CSO and ripping games to the memcard.
Anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks.
Darque.

For those wondering the answers to the questions I had here before:
IDK if you have to be in OFW 6.39 to use 6.39 PRO, but you might as well update.
And you can use the updater instead of the fast recovery, but the fast recovery is a hell of a lot faster.

This is what I do:
-Since 6.2, 6.35,6.9 are not permanent, just run the program and then uninstall
-Plug in the usb
-go to the internet and sign in at the playstation web site
-click on manage account
-click activate
-run the activation program
-PSP GO activated
-go to download history section
-download/transfer your PSN games using the USB
-unplug USB
-try to run PSN games now. They should work with or without the CFW.

you wana kill the old scool 5.50 GEN and 5.00 M33-6 !!!
surely you can't... sins your updates are still unstable, i mean that all new CFW that camed after the GEN-D3 are all of them less stable than the 5.00 m33 and 5.50 GEN and they are a lot so users now are confused with your updates 6.20, PRO, PRO-B 6.30 6.35 6.38 (-ME and i dont know what...!!! ), 6.39 PRO-B and i know that ther will be other names soon....... and they are all in a chort interval of time !!! then they are all not stable like the old CFW
i'm talking about 5.00 m33-6 and 5.50 GEN
I wonder if developers can take on CFW and develop it very well (6.39 PRO-B6 for example) and give updates for it so that we users can all participate in the same work and give feed backs or something like that
sorry if someone didn't understand me
and sorry for my bad english
thanX for all user in this community

if you're on 6.20-TN, enable the Fake Index.dat on the VSH
.
if you're on PRO, go to recovery menu first via VSH, then on configuration enable the 'use version.txt on /seplugins'
.
restart VSH and execute the 5.03 updater and update, after update, a blue screen of death will appear, just pres circle and you're done.

For simplicity, update to 6.39 OFW and then download the "PSP CFW 6.39 PRO-B6" file and then copy the folder "PROUPDATE" to ms0:/PSP/GAME. Once you have copied the folder to your psp, run it on the XMB and there you go!

oh yeah something i just thought of, if you or anyone else knows this: when i buy my psp i saw that I'll need to get a memory stick aswell, i searched around and found a Sandisk 16GB M2 Memory Stick Micro with adapter.
Its cheaper than the regular
pro duo by about half the price, i'm just wondering if i should spring for the pro duo or would it really make a difference?

BTW, i didn't knew m2 is much cheaper, it's a good thing pspGo uses m2 rather than a regular pro duo..haha gonna buy one if that's the case, my storage is about to get full.

To do this:
1. Press Select to enter XMB, and change USB Device to Flash 0
2. connect your PSP to your pc and you should have your flash folders displayed. DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING IN THIS DIRECTORY!
3.Search for a version file and use notepad to open it. Change 9.90 to 5.50 and save it as it is do not change the file extension.
4. Download the latest 6.39 update and put it into PSP/GAME/UPDATE/
5. Download the 6.39CFW from this post and put it in the same directory but different file name: PSP/GAME/6.39CFW/
6. Put also the FAST RECOVERY feature using the same system as above.
7. Run the 6.39 OFFICIAL firmware and install it
8. After Reboot install 6.39CFW by running the Updater and pressing X
9. There you have the 6.39 PRO B-6 installed :)
10. Run the FAST RECOVERY program every time you turn off your PSP, as when you turn off the PSP you will be rolled back to the Official Firmware. Else you can leave your PSP standby.

So i suggest going 6.20 Pro-B6,and running the permanent patch. But, the permanent patch is only for 05g and lower.
Or just wait for 6.20/6.39 Pro B-7 to come out with their final release that includes a permanent patch.

I've already hacked my psp 3000 with pro b6 and I've been using it with no problems but recently I tried using the recovery tool to no effect, I tried fully re installing and even just plain installing from the probupdate file and nothing. I did a hard and soft reset then preformed both a recovery and probupdate install and after that failed reinstall and uninstall...then a probupdate and recovery after a soft and hard reset after the uninstall....am I confusing you cause I'm confused too as to why it seems like my psp just won't be hacked anymore after I've been playing on it hacked for awhile

I downloaded and extracted the 6.20 PRO-B6 file and placed the PROUPDATE and the FastRecovery file in the PSP/GAME folder.
I then opened PROUPDATE file from the XMB after which the screen goes and stays completely black.
Only after I shut down my PSP and restart it I am able to regain regular function, but the firmware has not been customized.
Does anybody have any idea why it stays stuck on a black screen because I am following the standard procedure.
Thanks for any advice.

Any other suggestions to why my screen could go black after executing PROUPDATE?

Anyway after starting uo PROUPDATE it does go to the official white PSP screen as if it is starting up but after that the screen goes and stays black.
I really am lost here why it is not working. :(

try to restor factory settings, if it still doesn't work, you might have a 07/09g psp, update first to 6.35 or 6.39 then use their respective CFW. That should work.

2. Download the "PSP CFW 6.39 PRO-B6" file and extract.
3. Copy the PROUPDATE folder to ms0:/PSP/GAME4.Run 6.20 PRO-B6 Permanent patch Then Press X and then press O instead of X now u have Permanent CFW U can Fully shut down your PSP

If you are going to be with your psp often, you can put it into sleep, i.e. not completely shutting down. By that the cfw stays on. If you shut it down completly, then it will load your OFW. But any way you can get back by accessing the Fast Recovery file.
It is till now working in fine condition. So guys, you can go ahead and install it.
