PSP 6.31/6.35 to 6.20 Downgrader Released

Davee with a signed dose of downgrading awesomeness! If you're not satisfied with your current firmware (6.31 or 6.35), or homebrew enabler, then downgrade to 6.20 and run Total_Noob's HEN. It's pretty awesome. And when POPs support happens you know you'll want to ... unless PRO gets it first. I'll attempt a downgrade with my PSPgo shortly. I'll update letting you know how that goes. If you're feeling antsy, go for it, by all means giver; however, know this: We aren't responsible if you damage your PSP. Follow README.txt and you should be good. [How do I use it?]

Copy the "PSP" folder to your PSP. The downgrader is "signed" and can be launched from OFW XMB. You need to copy the 6.20 update to PSP/GAME/UPDATE/EBOOT.PBP and for PSPgo it must be the eflash it is placed on. After setup run the downgrader and follow the onscreen instructions.

[What does it technically do?]

It uses the utility/power exploit to gain kernel access and reboots into the updater with a special PRX running. This PRX uses the pspdecrypt functionality to decrypt the updater PRX when needed. This allows the updater to boot in the newer firmwares.

6.35 sucks cuz i have two psp's one that's a 4g with TN C and a 3g with 6.35PRO and im going to downgrade the 3g with this to 6.20 as soon as it charges cuz PRO sucks compared to 6.20's hen cuz PRO has less compability with homebrew and it randomly freezes now and then so im downgrading. Someone really needs to write an article that outlines the pro's and con's of 6.20 vs 6.35 ~ TH vs PRO HEN. Because I can't personally see why I'd want to downgrade now? Am I missing something?

Hey guys one question here, if tn-d is released and has a pops-emulation, will they update the popsloader plugin? what i mean is will they also include pops of previous firmware like 5.00,5.03,5.70, etc. for 6.20?

Worked beautifully for me, even though it corrupted my system settings config (to be expected, a simple press of the Circle button fixed it). I'm putting TN-C on it and re-activating my PSN account via Media Go right now.

Downgrader worked great on my Japanese PSP 3000(WARNING DOWNLOAD THE JAPANESE 6.20 OFW IF YOU HAVE A JAPANESE PSP OR IT MAY BRICK IF YOU USE THE ONE ABOVE). I'm not sure what model version my pspis but this particular model(Hatsune Miku ediition) came out on July 30 if I recall. It came with 6.20 installed so I guess you should be fine. I restored the default settings before just to be safe and I launched the downgrader. You will get a black screen with "Please Wait" and then it will shutoff. Turn it back on and launch it again and it will take you to the Sony Updater. When it reboots you may get a blue screen with a message in several languages that the settings are corrupt and that you have to restore them(I shit my pants for a second cause my PSP was $470) Press "O" ("X" if you have other PSP) and it will reboot again and it will be fine. In short a big FUCKING THANK YOU!!!

6.31 PRO was awesome for ISO's but to be honest...homebrew compatibility wasn't great. Either way, I'm thankful to the DEVS of both firmwares and TN HEN HERE I COME!!!

Alright so I did this on my psp go N1001 Model and can confirm it works perfect i did the downgrade the only thing tha happened was I got a blue screen when rebooting I ALMOST SHIT MY PANTS! Thinking I bricked it then I read it and it said to lick O so I did and all works good about to flash 6.20 Tn-C on it!

Not so sure about most of the questions you are asking but one thing is for sure, PSP 3000 CANNOT HAVE 5.50 CFW put on it ie. Gen d-3 or others, because they are full custom firmwares, not homebrew enablers. Trying to put them on your psp's WILL result in a brick.

This is because certain tools come out that can only be used by certain firmware's. For instance the 6.35 hen which could be loaded directly from the XMB as it was signed was a good reason to update. Plus many ppl like myself who use a psp 3000 with the unhackable board thought it was gonna be impossible to hack. However I hadn't counted on Sony's entire encryption keys to get hacked =)

Yes, The TA-088v3 PSP 2k Motherboards are able to be downgraded, you can downgrade them using this method back to 6.20,

On 6.20 TN-B You can downgrade the 88v3 back to 5.03 if you want to use chickHEN instead. The 6.20 TN-B Method for downgrading will let you go to 5.03, just don't go lower than 4.01!!! (You should stick with TN-C anyways but chickHEN has pops if you can't wait..)

This works for ALL PSP MODELS.

You will NOT brick doing this at ALL. This runs the Official* Sony 6.20 upgrade, so it's just like you were updating your PSP officially, This won't brick your PSP if you are using a PSP go or a PSP 3k, it doesn't matter!

Anyone can do this, if you are scared don't be. You can't brick even if you place the files wrong it won't run, this is literally 100% FOOL PROOF. Not to say every other downgrading method is safe, but this one is by far the safest that ANYONE can do!!!

This works on ALL PSP MODELS!

Can anyone help me? I have an european psp 3004, battery is at 100% and when I run the downgrader, it just says please wait and then shuts off the psp.
Tried to turn it on again and the same thing happens. Tried to run the signed 6.35 HEN first (I am on firmware 6.35) and then launch the downgrader, still the same thing happens. It just says please wait then the psp turns off and I have to turn it back on manually.

Well I upgraded from 5.03 to 6.35 on my 3004, because I thought it might run better. My 3004 with 635PRO kept shutting off and freezing. I tried this downgrader. At first it would only shut off my PSP, I checked the dir's and tried again and it worked without a problem. Now most of my iso's work...I still need to test.

I just bought a PSP GO on a clearance sale(50%off retail) last week because of 635PRO. I transferred most of my LEGALLY copied ISOs and PSN purchases and amazed how great this machine is compared to my PSP 1000 and 2000 slim. However, Valkyria Profile, one of my favourite games, is the only game that I own that does not work on the PRO. Thanks to this update. I can now play Valkryria Profile on the PSP Go!!!

Hey I found that patched games have trouble. I had a simular problem using open idea loader. If you take iso tool and select the ghost of sparta iso, then use the derypt option. Do not apply patch and select yes it seemed to fix my isos and they all worked on everything. Just something you can try for anything you have not working.

At first I had a similar problem like many others: downgrader started out normally but ended shutting up my PSP. Had to turn power back on manually. At that point my AC adapter wasn't plugged on and my battery was around 50-60%.

I plugged my AC adapter to the device and tried again. Worked like a charm. PSP 3004 6.35 --> 6.20 (dunno about the what is the g-thingy version, sorry).

The title of the post is incorrect, the downgrader works on all psp models BUT 8g or 9g ones. So, if you have one of those, there's NOTHING you can do, there's NO solution. You can't downgrade.

you prolly have a 9g, mine is a 9g and behaves exactly like that. You were on a firmware lower than 6.35 and you got the "8g not supported, then you updated to 6.35 and the psp just shuts off now I guess.

If it so, chances are you have a 9g that can't be downgraded lower than 6.20. Download PSP Module Checker 1.0 and check out what your psp model is, if it says 08 or 09g there's NOTHING you can do.

The downgrader worked great for my psp 3004 with ofw 3.35!
I only had some problems in the begining...for some reason the downgrader kept crashing and closing my psp...but then i removed the battery and plugged the psp with a usb cable on charge then i tried downgrader and it worked!After it got me into the 6.20 firmware installer i just inserted the battery again and it worked great! hope you guys get it to work too :))))

You can use the downgrade on every model of psp that IS NOT a 08 or 09g, on those two models it won't work, on the rest, it should.

you have a few options, open idea loader is one. however as much as i appreciate the work that was done on it its not that good, your best bet is install promethious iso loader then use iso tool to create an xmb icon. havent seen a game yet that wont play this way. only issue i ran into with using this method is you might have to remane your iso file, as if the name is too long it will show up as coruupt data untill the file name is shortened.

im not super pro or anything but i believe what your asking may be possible on older 1000s and 2000s that would have originally shipped with a lower firmware but i believe you will brick trying it on 3000s and gos, but on the older versions there are much safer and tested ways to do this so noone is probably going to test this theory anytime soon

thats is almost correct, however if you like plugins even tho 6.35 can use them they cant use them all, tn hen has great plugin support and is definatly worth downgrading for,that and if you have been watching the releases total noob seems to be working very hard and his next release should have pops support which will blow everyone away, and now with this downgrad im sure tn will use it to his advantage for some sort of custom firmware install eventually

most of the games i have downloaded have an eboot.bin and a eboot.old, if you use pbpunpacker you can open the game file and rename eboot.bin to .anythinngelse then rename eboot.old to eboot.bin, this method is a little faster then waiting for isotool to do the work on the psp.

But then I removed the recharger cord and it worked fine.

Any chance I can get this made for FW 6.36 Monster Hunter 3000 edition PSP? It's essentially the exact same as 6.35 except it has extra Japanese features. The down-grader works, (at least launches) but says it's not compatible with my firmware.

The cool thing about this is you can switch from 6.20 OFW to 6.35 OFW, so you can test things from the 6.20 HEN and the 6.35 HEN :).

Works fine with PSP 3k
first copy the "Downgrade" file and put it in PSP-> Games
second download the 6.20 upgrade above and put it in PSP -> Games -> UPDATE -> EBOOT.PBP

the eboot file that you should put is not included in the downgrade link, but the 6.20 link

I have a litle problem after i make downgrade of psp 3004 EUR 6.31 but isn´t bad at all my problem is when i start tn-c and I go to see the firmware it continues to say 6.20 but i can run Isos On Openidea iso loader and phrometheus iso loader and run all homebrews.
Anyhone can expain me?

Sorry not possible to downgrade with 6.37 this is only for 6.30, 6.31, and 6.35 OFWs. Did you Update it yourself or did it come with it? If you did yourself then that's your own fault.

6.20 TN-C is signed so no need for it, but to activate your system you have to have a PSN account and use the Media Go application for your computer, but after you launch Media Go of course put your PSP in USB mode and click on Store and once it's done loading sign in to your account; now once signed in go to Account Management and click on System Activation now click on Other Device (Such as a PSP System), and finally click on Game.

Only 5.00 M33-6 and 5.03 MHU (which is basically 5.00 M33-6 for the TA-88v3 and up).

I got this to work on a Monster hunter 3000MHB Model. firmware was 6.36 then i downgraded to 6.35 and used this. when the update finishes and it ask you to restart. you'll get a blue screen that says that the system is messed up and to contact sony (this scared the f outta me) but it'll reset again and you'll be on 6.20. you'll lose all your original mh theme though. just thought i'd post since 2 other people had this question. Thanks again for the awesome prog.

So, I know very little about the technical aspect of things but I was able to navigate around the MD5 mistmach error. First, I updated from 6.30 to 6.31 ofw. This still didn't fix things (I'm on a psp 3000 by the way). Next, I downloaded an older 6.20 ofw update rather than the one supplied with the downgrade package. I got a black screen and then rebooted and ran the downgrade a second time. This time, it took me too a blue screen and then on to the 6.20 business. It worked! I'm still have issues with a lot of my ISO's not working like their UMD versions in that the directional buttons only work part of the time. This seems to be an odd issue though that I can't find much info on.

I tried using the downgrader, but everytime, its shuts down at PLEASE WAIT screen.

I've tried the following:
+ Format MS
+ Restore Default Settings
+ Use Hen Pro B-4 6.35
+ Taking out the battery
+ Downloading from 3 different sources

Motherboard Type: BRITE (3000)
Motherboard Model: TA-090 v2
Current firmware: 6.35

I wish to downgrade to 6.20 and do a permanent install of 6.20 PRO B4.

it's ok even though you updated ur firmware to OFW. You can try to download a 6.2 TN-HEN C and a ISO Tool. That will solve your problem.

I already fix plenty psp's same problem as yours. So if you have a proper firmware, it will solve your chaos.

I seem to have come across a snag. Every time I try starting up the downgrader, it'll take a while to load, with the memory stick access light blinking, then the updater loads up stating that I have a newer firmware installed and immediately closes the updater.
