PBP Unpacker!

Submitted by greg; April 06, 2005

pdc has released a PBP unpacker, which allows you to open, extract and create PBP archive files. A PBP file starts with a simple header: typedef struct { char signature[4]; int version; int offset[8]; // the offset for 8 embedded files } HEADER; The 8 embedded files seem to follow suit of the PSP saved games - to a certain degree. PARAM.SFO, ICONO.PNG, ICON1.PMF, ICON1.PNG, PIC1.PNG, SND0.AT3, DATA.PSP and DATA.PSAR. Of course the PNG file are simply images/icons. Nothing spectacular. SND0.AT3 appears to be the audio file. We believe the .PSP file is the actual executable the PSP will run. We're getting closer! :) Unfortunately, we're unable to determine what the .PSAR is - still in the works. Download the PBP Unpacker from our downloads section and experiment yourself. We've started a forum so users may keep up-to-date with the current progress. Check it out!
Thanks Scott!

PBP is the file that contains the "runable" files. It's like a zip file :P

Exactly... it's like an archive with a few files embedded in it. Almost like a PSP "file system", but not quite. :P
