Official DaedalusX64 Alpha Revision 507: Nintendo 64 Emulator for the PSP

Submitted by greg; June 02, 2010

So it's been a real long time since we covered DaedalusX64 -- the N64 emulator for the PSP -- and I must say: it's improved big time. I scoped the compatibility list and several titles are highlighted in blue, which indicates good playability and 50% or better speed. Click here and see for yourself. Below is a little demo with Batman Beyond. You'll definitely want to disable audio and listen to something of your own for this one -- probably others too. Audio still needs some work I guess.
Click here for the official DaedalusX64 change log if you're interested in what has changed over the months. Otherwise enjoy some not-so-bad N64 emulation. Hats off to the DaedalusX64 team! Download: DaedalusX64 Revision 507 - source: daedalusx64

Why would anyone want to play games with no sound or the sound turned off?

Mario 64 plays pretty well, there's slowdown when there's a lot going on but reasonably consistent. Just in a short play I got 2 stars with reasonable ease.

Daedalus R11 works in HBL, but it is not fast in any stretch of the imagination.

Rampage World Tour is working full speed with sound. Set the sound to sync ;) (only minimal sound glitching)

This sucks, Ocarina of time runs at 15fps, I wont play any game unless it runs at 60fps, obviously the developer doesn't care about any of us, he should release this when everything runs at 60fps, or else nobody will play this. This is taking forever to get up to speed and he should just give up.

This emulator started nearly 5 years ago. In 5 years of development, you would think this emulator would be running near perfect. Strmnnrmn knew what he was doing back in the day. He was coming out with high quality updates with large changelogs. Ever since daedalusx64, development has haulted completely.

Lets all be realistic here. This Daedalus Emulator will never get anywhere without a committed developer. Time is running out, soon a new portable device will surface and the PSP will be forgotten.

Well hopefully there will be a new portable device soon. The PSP is good, but it used to be awesome. It's beginning to seem like a baby toy next to these new cell phones that everyone is getting. Although realistically I probably wont be buying one unless there is a game that I get really excited about, or when and if it becomes hacked and can do something like play ps2 games or N64 games perfectly like the PSP does with PS1 titles.

This version emulates the n64 roms at high rate. But the problem is when i press the left button on the rom selection screen it freezes my PSP and forcibly shutdown. Too bad at the previous version I didn't encounter this problem. BTW my PSP is 1000 with 5.50GEN D3. I think I have a problem with the RAM.
