LEDA - Legacy Software Loader Beta 0.1

Submitted by greg; February 02, 2009

Introducing Dark_AleX's LEDA: the Legacy Software Loader for older 1.0/1.50 compiled homebrew. This means any homebrew requiring the 1.50 kernel may be usable under CFW 5.00 M33 without the kernel add-on, even on the PSP Slim. Now keep in mind, LEDA is currently beta leaving compatibility unknown at this time. Please comment with your experience below should you have success or failure with whatever homebrew. PSP Fat users may also take advantage of LEDA despite the already working 1.50 kernel add-on. Like anything, LEDA has both its pros and cons -- LEDA Advantages:
  • It works on the PSP Slim too
  • It doesn't require much flash space
  • You don't need to care about which folder your homebrew is in. LEDA first tries to load the homebrew program normally. If it works, then the homebrew is a 3.XX+ one, and LEDA terminates itself to not waste RAM. Otherwise, LEDA does some patches to load the 1.0/1.5 homebrew.
  • Unlike 1.50 kernel add-on, LEDA tries to be independent of firmware. This means that whenever a new version of M33 is released, LEDA will probably work without need of an update.
LEDA Disadvantages:
  • Less compatibility. Anyway, I will try to make LEDA compatible with those old homebrew that are still useful today because they weren't updated or because they have a better old version.

Wow. One word explains it all.

Time to pull out all the stuff in my "Outdated Folder"

Mwahahahah.

Question now, do I buy a PSP2000 now that the PhatBrew is usable on them?

Makes me wonder if there is a way to make a PSP3000 homebrew app that can fix the scan lines. But I think thats part of the screen.

# Sinwarrior 2009-02-02 23:43
3000's scanline on screen IS part of the sceen/hardware.

and also, about the new psp 2000s, they contain the unhackable motherboard same as 3000.

if your buying one, either get a older slim model, perfered second hand one or get a 3000 if your willing to wait for the hack for them...

DAX always knows what the users want: fatsmod, PSN issues and now this. Tailoring a program that suits the users needs is just as vital to programming skills --- IMHO DAX is graded A++++++++ on both.

If anyone is having problems getting older homebrew to work, make sure your homebrew folder is set to 1.50 in recovery

I was having problems and after switching, everything started to load

... Unless there is something wrong with the homebrew of course it's gonna load on 1.50 kernel because the homebrew was made for 1.50 kernel! the point of LEDA is so you don't have to keep on going into recovery menu to swap the kernel and have more than one game folder (also so slims can use older homebrew without having to use timemachine).

Well the less compatibility issue will be a problem but I mean we do have Timemachine, right?

This program is the 1.50 kernell for the slim but this doesn't need rebooting. Meaning you can just play 3.xx homebrew and 1.50 homebrew without doing anything differently!! Just genius.

With TimeMachine you have to reboot your psp to go into the 1.50 kernell. This can let you play 1.50 homebrew without switching your psp on and off. ^^

LOL

It uses up RAM space/memory/whatever when it needs to patch the homebrew and if it doesn't... It doesn't do a thing to the RAM! (So no, no more RAM for you)
