Enable PSP Remote Play for Just About any PS3 Game

Submitted by greg; September 10, 2010

Check this out -- a cool little trick that essentially enables PSP Remote Play for just about any PS3 game. Of course your PS3 must be hacked in order to modify the game's PARAM.SFO. There have been a few reports where some games don't work, so really it's trial and error. Nonetheless -- awesome stuff!
I haven't tried Open Remote Play with this yet, but maybe it'll work too. PS3 gaming on your PC -- imagine that.

Unless you get an old used one or a refurb from GS. Those will probably come with an older FW.

You know, its funny that the whole reason that games couldnt be played through remote play is simply because of one little bit telling it not to. You would think that Sony would allow it and sell it as a feature...

But since Sony wont, hackers will. Thanks again to all the amazing people who made PSFreedom possible.

correct me if i am wrong but isnt the reason remote play only worked on certain games to do with the psp lack of buttons?i.e not enought to play alot of ps3 games

Is it just me or is Sony really failing recently? ^^
I mean:
- A new version of CFW 5.50 Prometheus which is compatible with games that require OFW 6.30 (Is it wrong to say that ANY PSP-Game up until now is fully playable? ^^)
- Half Byte Loader for OFW 6.30
- PS3 got fully hacked (Clearly one of the most epic fails Sony had to witness)

@cheesethief

My thoughts exactly :D I would go for the phat version personally, because It does everything a slim can do (and then some) + Linux support and I don't need to game online (I'll buy a 2nd; Slim). This comment may be wrong if they are able to boot linux on the slim how ever.

@Faze

I dont know about that. The psp has been hacked since almost day 1 so its nothing has really changed all that much in the grand scheme of things for Sony there.

Now the ps3 is a new story but at the same time I have a feeling it isnt going to be anything like the 360 in terms of widespread hacking. That and Sony also already started to fight it where MS never really had that opportunity in that respect.

There is lag with the button input not too long but enough to be annoying in some games.

You can only do remote play through WiFi I know. I'm just saying so people don't get their hopes up about being able to play the games without frustration.

This is why they don't enable remote play on every title cause there is lag even on the simpler games that were made with it in mind.

I understand what this application does and I think it's great the psp is able to do this as well as the Ps3 so openly, but I wouldn't find any real use to this because I don't like smaller displays that restrict my controls but I like the fact I am able to do this :)

Thanks to the developer(s).

I wonder why you would have to download the game to your hdd? I play final fantasy 9 (original disc version of game ) trough remote play without any hacks, exploits, jailbreaks, ect... So why not ps3 straight from disc?

I agree with everyone on this being frustrating do to wifi,and lack of buttons.It is however cool that the developers out there wont let sony tell us what we can do with our psps that we payed for.My opinion they should open all consoles to homebrew and it would solve alot of problems.I mean its going to happen anyway so why not allow it and support homebrew.

Really? You people don't see how amazingly useful this is? Think about it, with the PSP Go, you can use a Dualshock 3, remembe? Which essentialy means that PS3 + PSP Go + DualShock3 = PS3P! Of course, the hack would need optimization to improve lag, and you'd need a strong wifi connection plus the PSP would probably need to be plugged in, as it wouldn't last long with both wifi and bluetooth on... But still, think of the possibilities! When Remote Play first came out, many people bought PSPs just to carry their media with them, can't imagine what impact this will have if it is released properly.
