Daedalus (N64 Emulator) R10 Plan of Action!

Submitted by greg; March 06, 2007

StrmnNrmn has laid out his plan of action for the next iteration of Daedalus, the well progressing N64 emulator. Scheduled for release around the end of March, Daedalus R10 will focus primarily on speed improvements; just what you've all been asking for!
It seems pretty clear to me that speed is the single biggest issue that most people want to see addressed. Many people also mentioned compatibility and savestate or save game support, but in nowhere near the same kind of numbers as those wanting speed improvements.
Furthermore, StrmnNrmn ended his blog with a delightful note --
Just this morning, I figured out why the Expansion Pak support was broken, so Majora's Mask and a couple of other games relying on this are booting correctly now :)
Hooray! Chalk another one up for StrmnNrmn. Read the full Daedalus R10 Plan of Action And in the meantime, download Daedalus R9!

Hi thanks for working on this meng, i wanna knwo how gratefull i am of the work u do cuz i see ppl here being so ungrateful and being so rude to various developers .........Which is not fair or encouraging for those who make these apps to continue improving at all ........Ok i installed ur n64 app last nite and i was actually impressed by what i saw i used the jap vers of zelda and i also used ridge racer, zelda looks goooooooood imo , but as with any beta or most it has some bugs with the video cg movie playback and lil random freeze up here n thurrrrrrr!
so yeah some speed issues r present in both gams and mos def sound tooooo, but nonetheless very impressive still , so i keep it in my psp as a show trophy 4 my friends!

# Umm.. WTF? 2007-03-06 21:23
so you would enjoy it at 3fps as long as you can save? o_O

I'd prefer 20fps++ before a save feature.

An Ocarina of time speed upgrade and save ability would be great, but truthfully for me the one game I would love to be able to play is Super Smash Bros. Of course I would love the N64 Animal Crossing and Sin and Punishent to start running (Sin and Punishments graphics look bad and its to slow but it is really coming along.)

If he gets Super Mario 64 running at full speed with sound and no glitches, that is good enough for me! I can spend days on that game. Just think what could happen if he got more compatibility though! Zelda, Perfect Dark, Golden Eye. And even beyond that! Imagine Super Smash Bros. multiplayer wifi! Of course, that's until he gets it up and running to full speed. But hopefully this project will end up like the GPSP. Nobody belived that full gba emulation on the psp was possible, especially when VBAPSP gave up hope. But then, GPSP wowed us all, especially for the people wanting to play games like Zelda and Kingdom Hearts on the go. I have faith in StrmnNrmn. Keep at it till you end up with a fully functional n64 emulator and you'll be considered one of the greatest psp hacking gods!

I think when he finds minor problems he should just release another update. I mean if he found a fix with an expansion pack, then just release like a R9.5....

Just my 5 cents....

Ive only ever seen zelda and goldeneye and sometimes mario mentioned but im guessing that all N64 games work, and if they do you all have to get the legend of game perfect dark (better than xbox 360 version by far especially in multiplayer :P)
thanks for reading xx

Can someone else get to an n64 emulator?

This one has been around for so long, with many revisions, and it's still slow and can only emulate 1% of the games.
