Custom Firmware PRO-B8 and ME-8 Released

Submitted by greg; July 07, 2011

It's time -- time to update your custom firmware-flashed PSP. Both neur0n and Liquidzigong have again updated their respective CFWs: (L)CFW 6.39 ME-8 and CFW 6.20 / 6.35 / 6.39 PRO-B8. And that's not it! PopsLoader for CFW PRO, which we posted a couple days back, is now available for use on Cee-Eff-Dub ME. That's right -- neur0n has released a PopsLoader Bridge -- bridging the gap between ME and your PS1 / PSOne games. What's new? The download page'll tell ya. Download: CFW 6.39 PRO-B8 CFW 6.35 PRO-B8 CFW 6.20 PRO-B8 CFW 6.39 ME-8 LCFW 6.39 ME-8 PopsLoader Bridge for ME-8 - source: procfw | @neur0ner

It has a permanent pat ch, yes, but it starts out as non-permanent.

Yes, you will be able to update; technically you don't "update", but you uninstall the permanent patch (if done), extract new version, run that version, and you're done.

Permanence isn't a big deal unless you constantly swap the battery or turn it off for no reason - it takes 4 seconds to load it anyways.

PRO-B8 have some SERIOUS PROBLEM, because I've mounted a UMD video and, after that, my psp (3001, 09g) just goes black screen and turned off.

The Fast Recovery Did not worked.

I tried removing this CFW and after, reinstall it, but no success. The PSP just goes black screen and turns off.
Going back to PRO-B7...

What is CFW?

 - Pirated games can only be played if you're on custom firmware, custom firmware (CFW) can be installed in two ways, permanently (full) or non-perm'tly (lite), there's no difference between the two but as their names apply, lite CFW will automatically be uninstalled to your PSP once you fully shut it off and you have to install it again.

Please wait, I'm gonna make my official tut for installing 6.XX CFW.

basically non perma patching means you need to run the exploit everytime you boot up your psp, and permanent patch is basically what it states.

If you decide to perma-patch dont update past 6.38 as perma patching is not availale on 6.39.... yet.

If your on 6.39, you can either keep running the exploit every time you start up your psp, otherwise downgrade than upgrade to 6.38 and perma patch.

You basically use an official update to get it to whichever version you want, then run the exploit.

PSX games run, and because of the release of popsloader for PRO, more psx games are supported. There are still some bugs though like having no sound, etc. but it will be fixed soon

Ok GoW Red PSP running 6.20 Pro B8 Permanent. I miss my Category Game Plugin (CAT_ISO, CAT_PSX to seperate games into folders.). Are there any plugins that work with 6.20 that do the same thing? Also I need a plugin for Battery Percent to work. Right now None of my old GEN D3 Plugins work. Yes I can play PSP and PSX games (including save files) but I do miss those plugins. Can someone direct me to plugins that work. PS Great Job guys on the CFW. I never thought I would leave the comfort of 5.50 D3. But this one feels nice.

6.20 PRO -B 8 Permanent is the only one. Anything above get switched off whenever you shutdown your psp. All you have to do is run the PSP Recovery and it dumps you back to CFW. You could always downgrade to 6.20 then apply the CFW Perm. Seems to run everything so far for me. Great Job guys I enjoy the Recovery Menu and how easy it is to access without shutting psp off.

i had 6.39pro-b6 with perma-patch, and whenever i tried to open one of the menus in the settings category, my system crashed and shutoff. psp2k any help would be appreciated. also, is b8 worth the upgrade? whats the deal with people having problems with ISO/CSOs?

upgrade to b8, that might fix your problem, no issues on playing ISO's and CSO's that last poster just has his own problem.

What are the benefits of 6.20 PRO-B8?

Reply

# annson08 2011-07-17 20:17
pro b8 has iso cache & memory stick speedups that (as the name apply) make games & xmb loading faster. and not like pro b7, the bug that causes the xmb to load slower was fixed

hey i've got one question...right now I updated my PSP from 5.50 Prometheus 4 to 6.39 PRO-B8. and it doesn't play ISO and CSO games...I've been handling on this video >> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v... << and when updated i had 6.39 Pro-B8 and when I want to go play ISO or CSO games my psp freezes at the white "PSP Playstation Portable" screen and then it takes 10 secs and then it turns off, sometimes there's a very quiet sound, like "click." and then I have to recover my psp again because when it freezes and turns off it goes to 6.39. can please someone help me? :/

ISO/CSO games need to be added in the ISO folder.

The directory should be like this:
ms0:/ISO/(Your ISOs or CSOs)

"ms0:" means the memory stick root.

KH:BBS is not a homebrew game, it is an ISO or CSO file, but yes you will be able to play them.

# Tacoguy123 2011-07-19 02:59
Add them to your ISO folder of your PSP.
Also note that the ISO folder goes at the root of the memory stick and the games have to be in .iso or .cso format or else they don't work.

Update to 6.39 for the latest CFW.
Then download 6.39 PRO-B8 and copy the installation folder (usually called PROUPDATE) to your GAME folder of your PSP.

As far as I know, all ISO/CSO games do  work on this CFW.

Try placing the PSN game (in its own folder) in the GAME folder of your PSP.
What game is it?

Hi guys. I was absent from the scene for some time so I can't help but ask: I am on 5.50 Prometheus-4. Is it worthwhile to change to PRO-B8 or ME-8? I have a PSP 2000. If it is, which one should I go for? I like permanents, btw.

Hi guys. I was out of the scene for some time, so i gotta ask: I run a Custom Firmware 5.50 Prometheus-4 on my slim 2000 without any problems so far. Should I upgrade to PRO-B8 or ME-8? I like permanent firmwares btw

PS: Sorry for the double-post, my mistake ^^;

If your PSP is pandorable, then you could update to 6.39 PRO-B8 and then run the CIPL flasher (included in the downloads) to make the CFW permanent.

You might have access to PSN as well as being able to stay on the most current CFW if you do upgrade. On the other hand, 5.50 GEN-D is already permanent and you might lose some plugin compatibility if you update. Whether you decide to update or not is up to you.

Hm... I don't use PSN. Plugin compatibility on the other hand is more interesting to me. Still, I only use a handfull of plugins such us Game Categories, Hold and CWCheat/TempAR which I think are compatible. Ok, I am going to upgrade it when I get back from vacation ^_^. Thank you Tacoguy123, you were very helpful :)
