Custom Firmware 6.38 ME for PSP-1000 and PSP-2000 Models Released

PSP hack master, neur0n, has released yet another custom firmware -- custom firmware 6.38 ME for PSP-1000 and PSP-2000 models. I'd assume this CFW is similar, if not the exact same as this one, except of course it now works with PSP-1000 models. With that said it is still recommended you have a Pandora battery ready to go ... you know, in case the unexpected happens and you render your PSP a brick. Yeah I've got a phat 1k. All went well until I tried to play 3rd Birthday. Tried different UMD ISO modes, no luck but did tried any other games other than a psp mini, angry birds and that still works fine. Since I was just starting 3rd birthday I decided to go back to 5.50 GEN-3 using Hellcat's recovery flasher v1.65. You'll also need ofw 5.50 and RF-FW-Pack_550-GEN-D3_v110 recover pack file. So all is well and back to playing 3rd birthday. Great game btw.

try running hellcats pandora installer with hbl. then make a pandora, restart the console and insert the battery while holding L. from there select Test M33. then on there choose the installer and bobs your uncle.

I had this same problem. 1st make your battery a pandora one. You need to download dc8, download 5.00 official eboot and use it with dc8 to flash it, then update to official 6.20.... then download and run 6.20 TN-D, THEN download 6.38 official and 3.68 ME ... its a long way round but it def works :)

Hey Guy's i have psp 2000, bricked by x-gen if iam not mistaken coz 1 year pas. its a hackable psp but when i try to unbricked it the magic memory is not flashing i mean the red light in mem. the version of my bricked psp is 5.00 and never been hacked before, only the pandora battery works what is the best magic mem. to use on my old slim? please anyone out there can help me!! anybody so iam not alone!!

I test with a few different memory stick, and the result is good. As long as u using real memory stick pro duo, the update will success, if you use a MicroSDHC with adapter the update will fail. Do not update using fake memory stick.

just set the usb device to flash 0 and plug it into computer, then go into vsh folder than etc folder and you'll see version.txt. Open that up and change the 9.90 to something lower like 5.50 and save, and then it'll let you update

Also, You might need to disable version.txt in "recovery menu" first though otherwise it'll keep telling you that you can't update 'cause your on version "9.99" .. when obviously you aren't.

why? every cwf works on it, ive had them all on my psp 2000 since 3.60 m33 and never had a problem, rocking 6.38 ME now with no problems as of yet but incase I always have time machine on my ms so i can boot 150 with 340 hardware modules, 3.60 m33, 6.38 ME and 6.38 OFW ... QUAD BOOT :)

A: if your PSP is SLIM, it's not 1001, it's 2001, 1001 is PHAT
B: you have an OFW (Official FirmWare), hack your PSP first, then you can install this.

From experience, I like the following:

5.00-m33 (on a PHAT system, due to 1.50 support patch)
5.50 GEN-D4 (on SLIM)

I had a problem trying to Un-Pandorize my battery, but I downloaded pan3xxr4b and everything is alright now. Online store works... so far all my games work.

I had an issue where it wouldn't start because of my audioboost.prx (old version) I updated it and everything is GREAT. PSP-1000

Audio boost seems to cut out at max level... but it's always been that way.

Their network has been down. This custom firmware will allow connection. I was connecting just before the PSN store was taken down, purchased a few games and downloaded a few demos. It works.

There is a Version 2 available with OE & M33 drivers - It works with The Third Birthday now, but Tekken 6 and WWE 2011 won't boot. Those are the only 2 games I found with incompatibiliti es. Here is the link.

Directions are included in the download.
- requires 2 files - 1)The official firmware update 2)The custom firmware file. Update folder goes into ms0:/PSP/GAME/

and official firmware goes ms0:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE/638.PBP (file renamed to 638.PBP)

It is rather easy.

Make sure you are on CFW 5.0m33 or older.
I successfully updated from 4.01m33

I'm still on GEN-D2 with the memory stick mod myself (I reverted back from this new firmware until ME Ver.3 fixes compatibility issues)

You have to patch your *legally obtained ISO's* - Download a nice little program (for PSP) called "ISO Tool" it will help you make your images compatible.

Your current firmware version is fine.

This Is The Best CFW For My psp it works great i have the newest 6.38 me-2 it's awesome that you can boot in ofw as well as the cfw and the connection light on the psp doesnt blink and internet connections are faster because on cfw 5.00 m33 the light kept blinking

i have 5.00 M33-4 installed on my PSP1001 and when i run this update i get a message saying that the battery needs to be at 78. i have my pandora battery and my normal battery and both are 100% charged and i still get the message. i even tried it without a battery and on the mains and i still get the same message.

any ideas?

5.50-xx/5.00-xx games are working well with the PROM-4 atm, dont bothering changing if your not having problems....

dude u just semi bricked ur psp( same thing happened to me)......but dont sweat it.......i will still be able to load recovery memory.....press r trigger while booting ur psp n it will go to recovery menue....plug in ur usb connect to a comp and select toggle usb in recovery menu n ur psp shld b recognized by pc....then go to psp\game and rename ur UPDATE to RECOVERY (i also downloaded the latest EBOOT for6.38me2) then run psp\game \recovery \eboot.pbp 4m recovery memory and u shld b good to go....worked for me

use 6.38 Downgrader. It downgrades firmware 6.38 OFW to 6.20 OFW, then put PRO permanent patch. Before doing someting make sure your psp firmware is official. I tried and tested it to my psp 1004

ok my psp has the 6.37 firmwire, but its the official software. i have both the 1000 and the 2000 series. is there a way to hack it still or am i pretty screwed since i have 6.37? i dont have a pandora either. im in the middle of trying to get my hands one one tho. if i do i want to down grade the firmwire right?

Alright, I'm a total noobie with PSP hacking (and PSPs in general, really.) I have a PSP 1000 with the 5.50 OFW/CFW on it. How do I safely upgrade to this OFW/CFW without bricking my PSP? I don't need smartass answers right now, I've been fiddling with this thing all day and having a shitton of issues and problems come up. Any help that's preferably somewhat detailed and simple enough for this 16 year old's mind would be much appreciated. Thanks!

i'm using cfw 5.50 gen-d3 , it can play mini s games like tetris but i can't play ben 10 alien force. I had downgrade it to 5.00 m33-6 , i can play ben 10 but i want to play it both in 1 cfw. i don't want to upgrade-downgrade my psp 1000 repeatedly

For 5.50 GEN-D3 and 5.50 Prome-4,you need to edit the verison.txt thing. Besides the latet CFW is 6.60 PRO-B10. Or something like that.

anyone have problem with ufc 2010? i have 6.38 me-2, and when i try to start ufc my psp turns off... And its just with ufc, all other games works perfect. (Im using ISO file)
