6.35 TN Delayed; 6.20 TN to be Released

Wololo has the inside scoop on Total_Noob and his impending HEN release. Two scoops... 1) HEN for 6.35 is delayed; Sony has made some major kernel changes from 6.20 and adapting HEN to those changes have proven to take longer than anticipated. And 2) HEN for 6.20 will be released first since it's nearly completed, that'll likely utilize the Patapon 2 exploit and HBL. So all-in-all we can expect 6.20 HEN soon and 6.35 will follow, which may or may not happen before Christmas.

It is understandable that if Sony has made reasonably major changes in 6.35, then it makes complete sense that he will need some time to work on it. I think this is the best thing to do, as people will calm down (people who didn't update to 6.31 that is) use 6.20 for a bit, then move on the 6.35/6.36.

TN has stated, and it has been stated multiple times here aswell, that its expected to be released before CHRISTMAS, as in, DECEMBER 25TH. Last time I checked the 2010 calender, its December 8th as of 9:25 PM ETZ here. By my clock, TN still has about 2 1/2 weeks to release.

As for the ISO Loader thing, I back up my UMDs and read them from the memory stick cuz its ALOT faster. Infact, on my 4GB Sandisk, it loads 2x faster than a UMD.

Nobody forces you to keep updated on the site or the project. If you have a lack of faith, then stop visiting. Whats hilarious, though, is when Total Noob DOES release the HEN, you'll be one of the first to use it.

As for the Exploit, didnt Wololo confirm the VSH exploit aswell?

Supposedly this is a joyous and charitable time of year. Yet, within the first 20 comments we have 3 trolls. Truely sad.

Sony has repeatedly Admitted they actually like and dont mind Homebrewers. Why? Because theyre writing their own code that doesnt infrnge the ToS or EULA of Sony's PSP.

Sony claimed many ideas were added to the XMB from Homebrew.

That said, Sony repeatedly patches CFW because it allows Piracy. If CFW didnt allow piracy, Sony wouldnt patch it.

Furthermore, I use homebrew on my 3K rightn ow actually to watch movies, since I dont have a reliable MP4 converter. Am I a no lifer that should get screwed over because I watch Youtube Videos on my 46" LCD Sony Bravia TV?

The iso loader will be a third party project. TN nor Wololo endorse or support them because they both are agaisnt piracy (hence why its not incorporated).

Perosnally, the iso loader being seperate hurts me cuz I back up legal copies of my games to read from the memory stick. One stick is easier to carry and use than 7 UMDs.

But, TN's HEN can be ALOT like Firefox where you can add whatever you want on it. This keeps its size very low and the access times alot faster.

High expectations are on this project and the completion time draws nearer.

I am very excited for this release as I recently purchased a PSP 3000 god of war edition to compensate for my PSP 3000 with broken UMD drive. I have it on 6.20 and I am waiting for this HEN so I could finally have a solid portable homebrew and emulation device, and Il have my new PSP as a gaming device.

6.20 is being released through the Patapon exploit, not through VSH.

Since there hasnt been a game found just yet for 6.35,TN is just making things faster by releasing it via VSH exploit (No game required.)

Big Boss Pack manufacturer on my psp box says 07-29-09, However, it wasnt released til late June of 2010.

All Big Boss Packs (since they were limited and werent produced after September 2010) will ship with 6.20 Since its required to play PeaceWalker. So if you dont update it, you should be able to enjoy TN's hen soon ^^

TN's HEn wil not support ISO/CSO. However, shorrtly after the HEN is released, you can expect a third party loader to hit the scene. Til then, its strictly homebrew.

Partially correct. You need the Patapon 2 Demo, which is downloadable on the site somewheres. I think its on the HBL for 6.20 page. If not, search is your friend :)

6.36 has already been released with MHP3. So, its likely shortly after the hen comes out, sony will released 6.40 to patch it all up, and we lose not only the HEN, but the VSH Exploit aswell.

That, is why its cruicial never to update your PSP.

I dont think the 88v3 mobos support 5.50 CFW, if its NOT GEN-C then it means you're using a pandora's battery, correct? If so, then you dont need to use this HEN. You're well better off using 5.00 M33-6, or 5.50 GEN D.

However, if you're indeed on a 88v3 mobo which CANT use a pandoras, then stay on your firmware because 5.50 is regarded as a better firmware to hack.

To those who say "TN should release now", what if hes fixing a bricking bug? Or fixing the HEN to have more Homebrew support? Or enabling things like USB Charging? He had a deadline for Christmas. So, hes going to use that time to give us as many features as possible.

Those who say "This is a Hoax", Wololo is one of the most trusted and honest people in the psp hacking community. If he confirmed everything TN has said, then its true.

"He's been delaying" No, hes set the release date to christmas, so hes actually ahead of schedule.

"Does it support ISO/CSO Loading" No it doesnt. a Third Party will be released soon.

"I have xxx CFW, should I use the HEN?" If you're on full CFW (like M33), then you shouldnt need a HEN in the first place. If you're on a PSP 300x/GO/200x w/ TA-88v3 mobo, then you may need the hen. Its being released initially for 6.20, then most likely ported straight to 6.35. That said, NEVER UPDATE YOUR PSP til the guy making the HEN says so (in this case, TN)

if PB means Pandora's battery, then you dont need this HEN.

This HEN is for the 3K and GO mainly because they cant be hacked via Pandora's battery. As such, the loader wont be accessable via a Pandora battery, but rather through either a VSH Exploit or the Patapon 2 Exploit.

If PB stands for anything else (like, say, Peanut Butter), then disregard this comment =)

Great TN is indeed releasing the 6.20 on time, if not, early.

Makes me rgret updating my PSP, but alls good.

If TN is indeed porting to 35 I'm gonna probably update my psp to 35 (I know, breakin the rules, McPhail style XD), so I can download all the extra add ons for Peace Walker.

Although, since its probably not being ported to 31, I'm stuck with a 10$ psn copy of Hot Shots Golf, which is indeed a horrid game XD

The ISO loader may be better than using the normal XMB booting method. If they are planning on using a plugin that allows the ISOs to boot, it will be exactly as it is for CFW, where they are booted straight from the XMB. I for one, am hoping that the ISO loader works like an emulator, in which you start the loader and then choose your ISO, as this will drastically reduce the clutter in your GAME category. Regardless, we'll get ISOs, so I'll live. :)

Awesome news that it is at least at 6.20. I was hoping since it was coming out with a manufacture date of 07-29-09 (mine too, and yes I heard 50,000 as well, not sure if it's true though) but was released on 06/08/10 that maybe they would have left the PSPs at the _04g motherboard's first firmware, 5.70. Would have been nice as then dev's like myself could have gotten access to the _04g motherboard's 5.70 modules, as opposed to the 05g_ (PSP Go) modules which are different of course.
Either way, yes you are right about the camo being totally awesome, I am going back forth between opening and not, as I have umm *cough* a few PSPs already. What can I say, I am a psp addict. I guess the first step is admitting it right? : )

Btw, McPhail, rock on for answering so many people's questions. It's amazing after you answer things 3 or 4 times there are still people who ask the same thing. Still, you deal with it well. You would be a good addition to the #psp-hacks irc channel, seriously. Or, there is a certain community channel that if you are aware of you should totally join, you'd fit right in. Myself and others have discussed what PSP (as in 1k,2k,3k,Go) will be like once PSP2 has been out a year, and it will still be selling games (ala ps3/ps2 = psp2/psp, in that case) and I think people underestimate the scene. There are enough people learning to code and how to make exploits now that if we can just keep training new people, helping people out like McPhail does, etc... this scene could go on for a long, long time. SMILE! Merry PSP xmas, happy psp hannukah (sp?), and happy whatever religion's holiday you celebrate, even if it's a PSP cult that formed soon after TN's announcement, happy holidays all!

Eh, even with a ISO loader incorporated, it wont be CFW because when the PSP cold starts, OFW will be active.

That said, there may be a plugin added to allow a ISO Loader from the XMB, but most likely it will be a seperate eboot. Currently, we actually did have a ISO loader for HBL, but because in user mode it has to decrypt and decompress the entire ISO before it can be loaded, it was not nearly practical to be used (hour long load times for the smallest of isos....)

With the Kernel Exploit, ISO loaders can load alot faster without decrypting (since it uses the PSP's decrypter chip) and thus more practical. So, its already developed, it just needs to be adapted for a HEN instead of HBL.

Just curious as three reports of Big Boss Packs with a manufacture date of 07/29/09 would absolutely convince me that they all had 6.20. I assume BOTH Peacewalker game packs game with 6.20, though I have to admit I was hoping for 5.70 with a 6.20 update on the UMD.

the TA-93 shipped with the Big Boss Pack (it was released 3 months prior), so the lowest firmware it will possibly support I believe is 6.20. Thats why one of my concerns with TN stating "There will be a downgrader" is that on the 93's, if we downgrade past 6.20, will it brick the psp?

I have 2 hacked psps because I wanted to play mutiplayer with my brothers and friends for the longest time, but cant afford 3 copies of a 50$ game *cough*metalgea rsolidpeacewalk er*cough*

Still not a Firmware =P Firmware is loaded onto the motherboard itself. In example, BIOS on a PC is the Firmware, Hardware is like the Hard Drive, and Software is Windows.

A HEN at the very most would be Light CFW, and that even is a very bad term for it. When it boils down to it, HEN is just software for the PSP.

Windows (any install really) is just a GUI (Graphics User Interface) that runs off of a Kernel. In a Sense, XMB, M33, GEN, and even HEN all are just Kernels running off of the PSP. CFW alters the boot sequence (Hence the recovery menu) thus its classified as such. HEN, however, does not alter the Hardware functions in the same fashion, as such, its not Firmware, but rather, an software kernel. Its like Windows, you boot your pc and it loads the Kernel known as Windows. Here, you're just telling it to boot HEN instead of XMB. And for M33/GEN, you're replacing XMB with said OS.

Its awkward to explain, but in the end, perhaps I'm wrong. Just giving my take, is all.

The black line is a line of dead pixels. Thats a 60$ repair for a new LCD. Dont snap it putting the new one in cuz theyre incredibly fragile.

Also, the Battery that was soft modded only can be turned back to normal in a hacked psp. (Which is why I just hard mod mine). As to it not charging, I dont think thats done by the Softmod, so its probably a dead battery. Enjoy buying a new one for 40$ (unless its a slim, you're lucky then cuz you buy that for 20$).

First, a Sony Rep would be more formal, and private, not blatantly posting. Either you are indeed a employee whos trying some shitty ass kissing, or you just have no life.

I've been using my CFW to the fullest LEGAL extent. I only use ISOs of games I own, and only one copy at any one time on PSPs I purchased and owned. Any homebrew is also legal as long as it doesnt support piracy.

Will sony patch the exploits? You bet. Its their job to fix the cracks in their firmware.

Crush? I think thats a bit over exaggerated. I mean, sonys screwed up 20+ updates trying to stop hacking over the last 5 years, and they had to make a new motherboard just to stall us.

As to Dark Alex getting what he deserved (Surprised you didnt mention Liquid), To my knowledge, Alex left the scene with minimal to no legal action against him. Furthermore, even CFW has been legally ruled as an Legal Activity (look at the iPhone). As long as, it does not condone Illegal activity.

making the installer itself isnt the issue. Its because the hardware checks the firmware for a hash, which we cant mimic on CFW. If it fails that hash check, the Firmware doesnt boot. Hence, Bricked psp.

This is called the Pre-IPL check.

Because of this, there hasnt been a new Firmware out in ages. Until we can mimic the hash, we cant load CFW onto the flash successfully.

Its nice to know I have defenders here. Usually I'm more independant saying "I dont need it" but recently I've learned the value of teamwork.

Yes, its possible. Within the IP you have a region code, and a ISP code. When combined they can say what country and provide theyre from. Lets say America's IP code is 10, and Roadrunners is 30. So, if we had a code from 10.30.5.5, we (assuming we're sony or the polices), could contact roadrunner in America saying "We have a report of impersonation charges from IP 10.30.5.5, we need a full report."

At that point, Roadrunner says "Oh, thats McPhail, form 566 Go To Hell drive, Piss Off, Alaska.", where they then know my name, address, and have all my records, including criminal charges. All from the simple IP of my PC.

So, in a nutshell, yes. Its possible to track someone down to their very age and name via IP.

Simple Answer; We dont know.

For a 2006, make sure it has the TA-88v3 Mobo, because if it doesnt, you dont need the HEN. You just simply downgrade with a Pandora's Battery + MMS (Magic Memory Stick).

If it does have the TA-88v3, then We dont know if 31 support will be out. Maybe it will because it had minimal kernel changes from 20-31, probably wont though. You may need ot update to 35 (BUT DONT UNTIL TN SAYS TO.)

Sony really doesnt have any reason to patch Homebrew applications because if anything, they make the psp a selling point. However, their device cannot be allowed to support piracy, which is the reason behind the patching.

That said, Sony does rock. Its a shame sony cant release the source code due to piracy possibilities, otherwise we'd have some serious homebrew capabilities.

The HEN here wont be CFW, but it should allow you to do anything except play ISOs (Which a standalone ISO player should be released shortly after). With that said, there really shouldnt be a need for a CFW.

No, I dont think they will because The emulation isnt limited in any way by the XMB, or the MSRAT (Memory Stick Read Access Time). The only thing limiting it currently is the clock speeds on the PSP (which max out to a pathetic 333 mhz.) I've noticed a big increase to setting it to 333 on some games (like my snesx9 emulator, and Metal Slug Anthology), but we dont fully know the extent ofthe damage that may be caused by constantly running your psp at max cpu frequency.
