PSP CFW & LCFW 6.60 ME v1.5 Released

Submitted by greg; October 06, 2011

What's better than a new firmware? A new custom firmware! Yessir... Coming for your PSP, regardless of model, is neur0n's 6.60 ME v1.5. Now you should be using LCFW if your PSP is newer than a PSP-1000 or PSP-2000 (non-TA088v3); and if you're still sportin' an early PSP, drop the "L" and use the straight up CFW. What's new? The same for each:
  • Added a 199/99 CPU clock.
  • Fixed a bug in VshMenu when save config.
  • Optimizing the patch.
By the way it's recommended, if you're using CFW 6.60 ME -- the non-light version -- that you have a Pandora battery on standby ... you know, just in case something goes wrong when writing to flash memory. Rest assure though, I've yet to read a brick report. LCFW is 100% safe and patches memory on-the-fly (no writing to flash). The ME CFW is VERY VERY Safe!
Only an idiot would brick his psp with this cfw.
So the pandora warning isnt needed!

Another one already?! Was only mere days ago I updated to 6.60 ME v1.4

Well thanks for the continuing developments. I only just got back into using PSP more often recently so I havn't kept up to date with whats what. Is there a difference from the 6.60 cfws to the 6.39 cfws? Logically I would have thought the 6.60 would be the newer & hence better one but 6.39 still has new cfws coming out.. Must be a reason why, I just don't know it. Anyone care to give me the short answer?

Well with this 6.60 1.5 cfw I've noticed my PS1 games don't have music audio anymore in the games which use CD audio. Was working fine in the 6.60 ME 1.4 before updating. Newest POPs version from this site, I havn't tried every POPs firmware though in the loader.

I've also noticed in Tekken Dark Resurrection if the game is left to idle in the character select screen, the music eventually speeds up sounding abnormal? I didn't actually test this in the previous cfw, might be a glitch in the game instead..

How do I go from 5.50 GEN-D2 to CFW 6.60 ME 1.5? The nfo says to edit verison.txt. So I enabled FLASH0, went to vsh/etc and replaced my version.txt with the 6.60 version.txt. Then I went to configuration and enabled version.txt.

When I run the update it says that "This update require 6.60".

i think you must change version "in the version.txt" not the name version.txt itself. and are you sure you place the OFW 6.60 in the update folder? (ms0:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE), i hope this helps.

I tried it on 6.60 and loved it so much that I bought a psp go. Unfortunately, the white version is the rare one so I settled for the black one.

It should...I'm fairly new to the whole PSP/homebrew scene but I'm running the LCFW v1.6 that came out shortly after this, and googled for the "newest version of cwcheat," and it's been running great ever since.

Biggest issue you'll have is the lack of an updated database WITH cwcheat, but there are others out there (google again) who have put together and/or maintained their own databases/updates in the absence of "official" code updates.

Ok Just to start. I bought a sony Psp 2000 model (silver) from a pawn shop. Worked Perfectly. I updated to 6.60 then Lcfw 6.60 Pro B-10 on it sucessfully. Shortly after playing through a few Ps games. Running the Lcfw after powering off the machine would freeze the setup and go to a grey screen. At first i thought it was the MS so i used a different 1 with same results. Now. the machine acts strange and will no even come on.

This may be due to the purchase but everything seemed to work great.
