Which will you choose?
Much like the gap between old gen and next gen consoles, the time is coming in which you are going to have to choose between your PSP or a PS Vita. The second week after the Vita launched, the PSP outsold it. Conversely, there have been rumors that Sony may be ceasing production on the PSP in favor of the PS Vita, which we all knew was going to happen sooner or later. It just makes sense.
So now you have a choice. Do you hold onto your PSP or upgrade to the PS Vita? A lot of people, of course, already have theirs or simply can't wait to get their hands on the newest gadget once it releases in their area. Others are a little more tentative and are waiting to see what others say or waiting for the inevitable price drop - which is already happening with the Vita here and there.
I fall into the latter category, i.e. I take more of a "wait and see" approach. I like to know what I'm getting into and I don't feel any pressure to have something before other people. Where do you fall in this conversation? Are you holding onto your PSP and eschewing the Vita or are you jumping in full bore with the newest Sony gadget?

PSP ftw, but I will get a Vita once Sony screws us over like with the PSP.
"The PSP is a success, Mr Stringer!"
"Good, release our slimmer, more expensive model."
"What about the original?"
"Flog 'em for dirt."

I don't think they have the IR port I can use for my tv/etc on the vita.

I'll get the PS Vita when the price drops, maybe next year.

Considering we are now able to sign IPL-compliant homebrew code for the PSP, that means that all our homebrew and games are possibly compatible on the PSV's PSP emulator. It's cool to know there's some retro-compatibility.
What worries me is how Sony always tries to better its consoles, and releases new versions for lower costs or whatever reason... When saying this, I can't help but think about the first PS3 that were compatible to play PS2 games and OtherOS, or te PSP PHAT that was able to run kernel-level code on stock 1.50 kernels and that had the IR port... I'm afraid that if I don't get my hands on a revision-free PSVita, I'll probably lose some feature(s) such as the PSP emulator (if Sony ever deems it "unsafe for PSN" or some B.S.)
That's my opinion. I waited too long to get a PSP, and could only get used PHAT or new SLIM, and it sucks to have a used handheld, IMHO (you don't feel the same anxiety or care with a used PSP as one straight out of the box).

Right now many people are selling their PSP's to get funds for the PS Vita... And that is why I'm scouting the net for auctions and announcements of people selling their PSP's at cheap prices. Usually looking for broken PSP's simply to store parts for my own PSP's maintenance.

I'll get a PSV the day after an ISO loader comes out for it...

I bought my psp 3000 recently and im satisfied!
Many would say that is because i bought recently and, for now, its new but im a person that dont need some fancy graphics for having fun. For now VITA is too expensive for the improvements that brings..
The only worry i have is the fact that now there is not many games being produced for psp and because of the launching of VITA they will be less, but i will take the PS2 example, old but still in the market and there is not many games being produced for ps2 but i have lots of old games..
For PSP there is lot of games and there is some games being produced (and with the emulators there is infine games)..
So if i bought the PSP recently i choose wait some time before buy the VITA..

Thats a valid opinion, and i concur i am going to get the Ps Vita within a week of its release. I think its good to let those japs have it first to see if it has any flaws lolol

PSP. Downgraded to 6.20 and haven't updated since, unless you count the PRO B-8 Pera-patching...

PSP forever and always. I downgraded to 6.20 and updated to PRO B-8 perma-patch and haven't updated since. Sony will always whine and cry, but jailbreakers and modders will always succeed...

Since I have a PSP phat running 6.60 Pro-b10 I will let that talk for itself

The Vita looks awesome, and I was initally excited about it... but the extreme DRM, proprietary flash cards, and heavy ties to expensive downloaded content have killed most of my interest.
There's so many good games on the PSP I haven't played yet that I have no need for a Vita. At the rate I'm currently paying PSP games, it will take me years to get through everything PSP I'm interested in...

I am 100% waiting for the PSVITA to get hacked. Until then, no purchase from me. It's as simple as that - until it happens, I'm content with my three PSPs that I already have.

I have a 2k running 6.60ME-v1.6, that does more than what I need it to. I am waiting to see how the PSVita plays out. I would rather wait until a hack is found to permantally remove sony forcing you to update, as well as not need an iternet connection to even transfer files. I don't always have wifi available so that would be a huge issue fast.

I'm still holding on to my PSP no matter what new gadgets come. PSP forever in my heart!

i will definitely get the vita on its fist day here in manila but ill still keep my PSP go for my son.....

i'll hold on to my go since it has a much bigger library that i still need to play, also psv price tag is too steep. I'll eventually get one when the library expands and when its cheap to get a hold of

PS Vita is better than PSP(PlayStation Portable) because PS Vita has more function and even the graphics are better than of PSP.So,according to me PS Vita is better.

I'll stick to psp for now. If they get the equilvent of pandora and full speed emulators for the vita I might get one but I will never retire any of my psp's

I'm holding both. But sad to said... Appearently, I a bit more favored on PS Vita. Because the screen is bigger and clearer (close to HD).

I'll be getting a PS Vita... eventually. We all know sooner or later they'll release a "slim" version of the console which has more features, weighs less, has all the accessories made for it etc. I'll probably get that.
As for now, my PSP is perfectly fine. I'm also not too happy about the unique memory sticks you have to buy for the PS Vita. That's monopolising I daresay!

Can't compare the two the PS3 lost backwards copatiblity becuase it made the system cheaper to make not because of security issues. They could never remove the PSP Emulator because they want you to beable to buy PSN PSP game and play them. The other stuff you are right about. I am curious what a second model will add/remove. Would be nice if there was video out I was glad I never got the PSP 1000 when the 2000 came with video out and was still pandorable.

I have four PSPs and over 90 PSP games on UMD and the Vita is a day one for me. The launch line up is easily one of the best ever seen in gaming as well as a lot of good looking launch window titles.
Many people posting here don't list it, but the reason they hold onto their PSP and not purchasing a Vita is because they just use homebrew and pirate games. As many people as there are that say how great a system the PSP is, once all versions were hacked even the most popular AAA titles had extremely low sales, and that includes God of War Ghost of Sparta.
Obviously this isn't aimed towards any particular person, so those honest enough to purchase all of your games and not pirate earn my respect.

same here the iso or cso loaders are what makes the whole thing worth it. and by the way since the hacking community can now sign homebrew or so we think, it should be almost instant to see a working homebrew emulater or iso loader signed or i would think so

I'm gonna stay with my PSP 3000 & I'm very happy with it. It's been an year and I'm loving it more n more. Vita looks cool but definitely overpriced! especially when the current smartphones have similar specs nowadays. Maybe I'll get a vita after a year when the price drops..

PSP forever!!!! Vita is like a girl's portable console......As long as they release new games for psp, no matter how long, i'll stick to psp.......Sony is just too desperate to stop hackers. I pitty sony...

Lols. PSP 1000~3000 FTW. The only problem we are going to face, is for newer games to be released only for the Vita.
Or, if i we're a rich man , i'll get a Vita, and hack it to hell.

psp (playstation [portable) is the best console that i ever had. I had a ps1 and ps2 but psp is better. With good games and other application evryone loves it. I don't like ps vita because you can only purchase games on psn store or bought some games and it's really a waste of money. I loke ps vita because of its new features, but I'll wait until ps vita is hackable.

Thats just so they still sell ps3s. Why have a ps3 if you could plug the vita into a TV
