PS Vita Firmware xTractor Released

Submitted by greg; November 20, 2011

Longtime scener, and who once sided with another skater calling Open Remote Play a fake, is StreetskaterFU ... or SKFU for short. SKFU is back with something that I'm unsure whether or not works, but I'll reserve judgement in case it actually does: PS Vita Firmware xTractor.
PS Vita Firmware Extractor
Whoa... Wait a minute, hold up... Say what? A PS Vita firmware extractor already? Apparently so... Where to obtain PS Vita firmware? No idea... But SKFU says this current version only works on PS Vita firmware 00.945.040. Can anyone confirm this? SKFU also mentions, "the firmware itself, it is not unencrypted like the PS3 ones." Uh... Cool logo. Anyway... Here's to hacking the Vita! Cheers! *cling* - source: streetskaterfu's blog

I'm not calling it fake but it seems weird that this guy releases something for the ps3, disappears for the entire ps3 scene and now it releases something for a system that isn't even released yet.

what's the point of this? even if it's real then sony knows about it
before release, making it useless..the only point i see is to p'off sony
and potentially delay the release.

LOL, what a waste of our time and bandwidth, THE VITA IS MONTHS AWAY FROM RELEASE, and this faggot seems to think he's created a firmware extractor for the device? I seriously doubt anyone will be able to develop such a tool until the vita gets exploited and hacked. I wish people would quit trolling us, like that faggot tho made the fake CMD prompt using @echo commands to tell us he's decrypted metldr keys in the PS3 scene.

Hei all, well i'm a reverser so i reversed the application and it has 1 lame ass function in it.

It splits up the input in a static number of files (30 files, all names are static to) The total size it reads from the input file is: 148 MB (155.487.850 bytes)

Everything more than that it just ignores, its not processing of the input just cutting it up into pieces and copying it directly to the static output files.

I haven't completely reversed the extraction function to readable code but as far as i could tell (i skimmed the asm) its stupid....
