PS Vita Cloned Already

Submitted by Demonchild; December 13, 2011

Sony's next flagship product is not even released in Japan but a clone has already slipped out available for sale. The Chinese clone is called the Yinlips YDPG18 and it may not have two analog sticks but it's packing Android. Not only that, it comes with a microSD slot, mini HDMI port and two cameras. What else does this puppy hold? Let's see:

The YDPG18 comes with a 5" touchscreen display, a 1.2 GHz processor, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory. Digging deeper, the clone is able to play NES, SNES, Gameboy, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, MAME and N64 roms as well as 3D PSX and Android games. On top of that, the clone supports Flash 10 games. With the clone running Android, the list may be expanded. Perhaps, it'll get rooted and a custom ROM will be pushed for it. :P

The YDPG18 is on sale at iShareGifts for $126. For those who have or are thinking of canceling their Vita preorders, how does this float the boat for you? Hehe.

I support open projects like this. Sony should learn by example and stop locking users out of key features, like locking people out of playing their newly purchased games who don't have internet in their homes and forcing them to update their firmware or their game won't play. Fuck you,  Sony. I hope every Chinese knock-off damages your sales and hackers prevail to bring down the PS3.

I second that motion. Whatever happened to the Sony we knew during the days of the PlayStation One? I'm not buying a Vita, and I think I'll stick with my third-generation PSP slim...

I agree with pixelheart, Sony do need to STOP restricting our use of the console that we paid £250/$300 for, if someone finds out how to allow us to do everything that the console allows, so be it, this means that Sony hasn't made the software good enough, and forcing us to update to go online is annoying, what if i am not getting a PS Vita, do I really need this 'PS Vita System Application Utility'? Hell no, just another part of the PS3 which I will not be using.  And if someone finds out how to do challenge lobbies, so what, they worked hard to find out how, so let us be.  Sony has gone into shit recently with their PS3, however I do love their other products like TV's etc.  And just think about it Sony, if KaKaRoTo has the 4.00 jailbreak, just admit it, we have won! The PS3 will be forever blown open!

Pixelheart:  "Fuck you,  Sony. I hope every Chinese knock-off damages your sales and hackers prevail to bring down the PS3."

LMAO too right!!  Commadore did not stop people from having full access to the Amiga and no one used excuses back then about devs being put off from coding games just because it was possible to copy them to blag people about cfw and equivalent.

lol. the updates on a ps3 are always important. what you dont know is for every noticeable change there is 20+ other less visable changes. and if its psn changes, its neccisary

Just wanted to put this out there. I love Sony products. Modified the way I want them. Yes it's work, but so is everything else in life. And FYI, if the ps3 "goes down", which it won't. But if it does, we have more pretty little toys to play with. The xbox can be opened just like any other box.

I do not agree it is a PS Vita. It is only a retro Andriod game console which supports muti-gaming via WIFI and can down Apps in Andriod market. That is it.

It doesn't support multi touch in games like quake 3, and the battery lasts only 2 1/2 hours but other than that it's great!

You won't be playing N64 games at full speed with this.  It only has a single core processor and 512MB of RAM.  If it was dual core with 1GB of RAM then it would be better.  At least it will probably not have a locked bootloader.

A decent amount are. However, If you could somehow update the emu's, then it would run much smoother. Goldeneye only runs a bit faster than on a psp, but with sound. I've tried zelda, and it's pretty much the same, and mario kart runs perfectly. I give it an 8/10 for running n64 games. The battery life sucks though. :/

A Clone means it does what the Vita does, which it doesn't. So it's full of crap.

That is the biggest f-ing problem with our world CORPORATIONS SHOULDNT CREATE LAWS.  That the most basic level of corruption that has butt raped america, corporations creating laws in order to make money.  It is not the place of corporations to make laws.  That is reserved solely for the government.  Nearly every law created with the influence of a major corporation has done nothing but screw up the system and f over the common man.  Your comment contains a staggering amount of ignorance.

no. Sony releases those stupid updates to fight a petty little war with people who want to mod their gadgets.
