Why does it say (or look like it says) "PSP firmware 6.31" at the top?!
Reply
because its a psp save game exploit and its probably coded to print that
Reply
that was very fast ....
Reply
Well this was rather fast. I was expecting it to take a few months at least. Now where's the cfw? All in good time i suppose. Still not enough to get me to give up my pspgo! Though...

Fake.

this will kill the Vita.... it will end up like the psp with games developers pulling out...... it already supports homebrew... why destroy it?
Reply
probably not, since its supposed to be easy for ps3 games to be ported to vita we will see a ton of ps3 ports even if piracy plagues the system.
Reply
this is just photo (screenshot from psp) opened in vita
Reply
no it won't.
the security system is built so that you cannot write to or copy any type of data from the proprietary game cards. which is why the system has separate memory cards and no internal memory. sure, playstation games, homebrew and emulators running off of the memory cards are a given, which is why they decided to make it an open system in the first place, but the security system will stave off piracy long enouch for the system to become a success before the protocol that is used is found.
probably the only reason this piece of code works is because its using the PSP emulation built into the Vita. it isn't cracking the Vita just yet, just the in-built emulation.
Reply
It's not even in my hands yet and it's already exploited?! o_O

Can't wait for this beast to get hacked & have custom firmware on it. :)

I just hope piracy does not happen on this platform. The psp is dead because of piracy. Hands down.
Reply
Maybe its similar to how the Wii only allows access to certain hardware in compatibility mode. They might have access but only to an extent.

this can either be real and that this is as far as this exploit is going to go for the next few months or its a total fake made to make sony realize they need to be ahead of the game by creating and releasing some kind of firmware fix so that there will be no way to even get to this exploit when the vita is released in the U,S,
Reply
sony will patched this in the north american release

Official Score:
PSP Hacks = 1
Sony = 0
now we gonna see Sonys fight back... be prepared for some fucked up update.
Reply
lol this is fake
Reply
And so it begins...

Since Vita Runs Android Apps, it's a chance for the community prove they want homebrew and not CFW, but unfortunately we DO know that at some point someone will work on Backups. That's the world nowadays, i can't wait to get my hands on one of these handheld.

YOU ARE A MAJOR MORON…………………….

This is called speed men.

1 - this wont hack the vita since its using its psp emulation capabilities, its not using vita code
2 - you do realise the vita will die if it gets hacked, dont you?
Reply
Some people are going to say its fake but I believe it. There hasn't been ONE gaming console in history that hasn't been hacked, EVER. Even if this is fake, I still expect the PS Vita to get hacked in less then a few months.
Reply
nice!!!
but they have to wait a few months with releasing it so psvita is out in europe
Reply
DONT RELASE IT ! ! ! WE WANT GREAT GAMES ON VITA NOT ANOTHER CRACKED DEVICE. THIS BABY HAVE 4 CORES PROC TO GIVE US FUN, SURE WILL RUN HOMBREW LIKE A DREAM BUT NOT NOW, LIKE GUY SAID BEFORE IN FEW YEARS YES
Reply
There is no real problem with hacking it...It is just HOW people use the hacks...If someone does it to just steall games they need to stop living in their parents basement and move on, but I for one enjoy homebrew games. The VITA has alot more power then the psp...Imagine the posibilities... Android emulator anyone? =P

i thoght the new downgraded psp was running similar firmware as the vita, as in the keys that it is using??? if so developers have had some time to work on cracking the vita and there have been demo models floatin about for while.
The original psp was cracked whilst in its infancy fw 1.50.

Install Android 4 plox?

The vita portion of the vita is not cracked. Only the PSP-emulator. You can maybe play pirated PSP-games with vita some day and use PSP homebrew, but in no way will this affect the vita portion of vita.
So nothing to worry about, we will not get pirated games this way.

bitch please, its an image --.

Probably just a picture im guessing fake.

So can I get custom firmware of this?
Does this mean I better have a large amount of memory, so that I can play ISO in the future?
When exactly this will be fully hack?
Reply
Nice, should've bought a PSP instead of a Vita!
And, to the guy on top who just shouted, the PSP was hacked long ago, but it's still running, and Sony wont cancel, i guarantee.

According to megagames this hack was run through a buffer overflow in the psp emulator that is on the vita. It's in actuallity an original psp hack run through an emulator ahaha

Since Vita is capable of running PSP games, the developers need to put the PSP part onto vita, and since "Hello World" only hacked the PSP part, that means that you can run your Vita like a PSP with CFW now, Plugins, ISOs and such.
But, the Vita portion still isn't hacked, so... Sony, better gear up for the doom.

The only reason i would end up buying a Vita is if it becomes possible to run homebrew software on it. For those of us who program our own games and applications in the spirit of open source expect our hardware to be open to some extent. 100% locked out hardware with no possible way to run your own program on it is nothing more than a useless toy.
With all the gizmo's the Vita contains, GPS, 3G, Wifi, GPU, etc... what a waste if it is all locked out.
Sony should open up parts of the hardware to indie developer's, it will save them alot of poor-reputation as with the PS3. Can't wait to see how this console handles GNU/Linux, might be possible to actually get an X display up and running.
Whatever happened to the Sony, who brought us Net Yarooze. I'd do anything for Sony to go back a few years to that mindset.

Can't wait for this beast to be hacked & have custom firmware.. there's so much potential but it's being held back by Sony..
Oh & for all the doubters & hopers that Vita won't be hacked... it will be hacked, There are thousands upon thousands of hackers out there waiting for this to be released in the US & UK so they can get their hands on it & have a new challenge to crack. It's only a matter of time, really.
Can't wait. :)

the vita won't be hacked... a flashcart will be made soon thats all, what will probably won't kill the system. It did not kill the ds, i think thats why sony choosed this media.

Thats true, although Sony has proved to be able to make things hard to crack....Remeber the dreaded ta-88v3 Psp motheroard? It took a very, very long time for that to be hacked...Sony is not dumb you know, after all, they are the ones who have made this device in the first place...Althoguh I am hoping that the Vita will maybe see A good working Linux port. =P

If we're talking about game development and dev interest, I don't think piracy singlehandedly killed the PSP. Let's face it: the PSP hardware is dated now compared to the new handhelds. Hell we've got affordable touch screen phones with more umph than the PSP.
Anyway, I'm pretty sure as with ALL consoles, this will be hacked. Either because somebody works hard enough and gets lucky, or at a certain point in time, Sony PERMITS their system be hacked, just like Microsoft.

APK emulator on the vita would be nice , android gamesssss

This is by no means going to kill the Vita. If anything, it's going to make users such as MYSELF, who have a rather large UMD library, happy. We'll be able to use UMD Dump on our PSPs to create ISOs of all our beloved UMD games, such as Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, Final Fantasy: Crisis Core, and many others, and once the Vita has an ISO loader, we'll be able to play our PSP games on the Vita, as well as official Vita games, as opposed to registering our UMDs, paying a discounted price to redownload them off of PSN, and paying twice for our PSP games (this option isn't even AVAILABLE in the US anyway). I say bravo to you hackers. You're going to make users who Sony's rear-ended all these years very happy.

Get a life. Hello world is only making use of the PSP emulator of the PSVITA, and besides that, it has never allowed the loading of ISO/CSO, just homebrew eg. emulators/other psp community dev software. Stop crying like a little bitch and send naked pictures of yourself to Sony so you can finish being their whore. The dude that did this is the sole reason I bought a PSP back in the day and has just become the reason I bought the Vita upon its release. An open system is a dream, its like saying you want the government to limit what you do, say, and experience for you, because other dumbfucks are pirating things out there. Hacks are always good, they bring companies to invent better security, and they open new and endless oportunities to user hardware. I hope the vita gets fully hacked soon because if it does, it may even be able to run Android Apps, different custumization oportunities, and play emulators for more complicated systems like the dreamcast and N64 at full speed, fully replacing my 3DS as the most amazing handheld device in the world until something better comes along in the next 5 to 6 years.
