SHPNP: Silent Hill Port for PSP CFW

Submitted by Christopher Groux; November 06, 2012

Sure all the spook of Halloween 2012 has come and gone, but that doesn't mean that you can't play a horror game during the off season. When it comes to the genre, Silent Hill was really one of the first games to scare the pants off all of us. With its dazzling sense of place and barren fog drenched environments, back in the mid-nineties we were all terrified by what this game has to offer. Since then, the series has earned a proud designation as one of the  more memorable series of all time, and has even spawned a few recent full motion picture releases. When something gets this popular, why not take a look back and see where it all began?

Thanks to a developer known as incpdo now you can with their portable port of the PC version that was recently updated to Beta 0.20. This is certainly an ambitious project to say the least in that eventually the coder hopes to create a complete replica of Silent Hill PC for you to play on the go, but as of right now this version will only offer you a small preview of what's to come. However that's not to say you shouldn't be impressed. Fans of the original will be glad to know that aside from basic game functions like pause menus, you'll also be able to play through a portion of the Andy and Harry campaigns with just a few minor bugs along the way. For those that run into framerate issues, you can scale the resolution forward and backward by using the L and R triggers. Other than that, this is a scary good start to a big project. We hope to see more from incpdo in the future!

Why not just run the PSX version on the PSP? Does it have problems?

No, at least as far as I know. I've used both the psn version as well as one created from an iso and had no problems with either of them.

Good question that I also contemplated. Maybe they're just more familiar with PC ports or want the challenge? But yeah as of right now playing a PSOne eboot is really your best bet.

Just so you know, this is NOT Silent hill. This is the Visual Novel adaption that was made for the GBA then ported to the PC.

just as Seejay said it is the play novel version ( a gba game) the game tells the story of Cybil(you can know what she was doing when she dissapear all those times) Andy, and Harry in a visual novell way. The interesting part is that the game never had an english or spanish release except for a flash-made-PC port(only in english). Just try it or look for the gba version and enjoy Silent Hill Play Novel!
