With the scene being created almost a decade ago, you might think that the old PSP crowd has probably seen better days. After all, with much newer and more powerful hardware on the market, why would anybody find time to use something that is obviously technologically inferior to what has been wowing audiences in this day and age. The answer to that relies in how easy it has become to hack the original Sony handheld. Thanks to folks like Dark_Alex and the PRO Team, you can pretty much take any old PSP off the street and turn it into your very own hacking machine. What's more is, even the Vita community today is more or less a copy of what we see on PSP, so why not stick to the system that has a more complete sense of hardware hackability?

In general, the PRO Team has indeed shifted a lot of its focus to the new ARK eCFW for the Vita, but last week they took the time to update their old but popular PSP environment too. With the flashing of this firmware, you'll be able to do lots of great things like using PSN content on a DRM-free basis and being able to load all of the awesome game backups you want for both the PSP and the PSX. There is of course the ability to run that thing we like to call homebrew as well, and it will offer a higher compatibility rate than what we see on the PS Vita right now.
