Touch Capabilities
Gamers have always been just a little bit reluctant to change from their old school habit of using a traditional controller to interact with their content, but with the advent and popularity of smartphones that has all very slowly started to change. Thanks to all of your iPhones and Galaxy S3s we have all started to see the massive benefit that a touch interface can add to your experience. To be fair, the idea itself is nothing new. We really saw it first with the Nintendo DS in a lot of ways, but I wouldn't say that it has matured to a state of mass-popularity until the last few years or so.

That being said, I have to say there is very little doubt in my mind that playing games through touch will be a pretty big thing in our next console purchases. As a system, the Wii U already shows that it banks on this kind of tech almost entirely with its gamepad. Add that into the fact that we just recently saw the DualShock 4's own touchpad on PS4 and you've got a little tech war that is all trying to capitalize on the simple yet immersive gameplay that only the human touch can bring. I wouldn't be shocked if the Xbox 720 left this one behind in favor of its Kinect, but we'll have to wait and see on that.
Speaking of Kinect, cameras might also be a source of input for games too. Find out what role they might play next!
