SubJunk Gets Universal Media Server v1.3.0 Out To Everyone

Submitted by Demonchild; July 10, 2012

SubJunk and co. are back again with a new release for Universal Media Server. For those who followed the group from its PS3 Media Server days know that they're in for a lengthy update.

Like PS3 Media Server, UMS is not exclusive to the PS3. Other consoles such as the Xbox 360 are natively supported as well. If you have a computer that can handle the load, UMS can also transcode whatever videos that you're streaming, on the fly. The v1.3.0 update features quite a good set of changes.

Changelog:

  • General:
    • Enabled FFmpeg video player for all platforms
    • Updated FFmpeg for Windows to e01f478 (20120319)
    • Updated 32-bit MediaInfo to the 20120611 development snapshot which fixes a bug with detecting the duration of some avi files
    • Improved FFmpeg commands
    • Added support for PGS (Blu-ray) subtitles
    • Added support for VobSub (DVD) subtitles in MP4 container
    • Better handling of embedded SSA/SSA subtitle styling
    • Fixed audio track selection for MP4 and MOV containers
    • Localized audio and subtitle priority defaults
    • Added option on Traces tab to pack useful debug information into a zip file
    • Fixed 64-bit OS detection for Windows and OS X
    • Made program-closing more reliable
    • Fixed default settings
  • Languages:
    • Updated Catalan (thanks, aseques)
    • Improved English

So which one seems to be working better for people on their PS3's? UMS or PMS? I have both on my computer but I tend to use PMS more. Just curious to find out what others are using and what settings they use.
