In an interview with a publication called Emol, Sony's vice president Hiroshi Sakamoto was certainly quite dodgey when it came to questions about the very next generation of the PlayStation family. From what we have seen already however, it's clear that something is definately on the horizon. For one, a few months ago IGN released pictures of the second iteration of supposed PS4 development units. That being said, there's been no real doubt in anybody's mind that a new console will happen eventually.
The real big question on everybody's mind however is when exactly that reveal is going to happen. Just a few weeks ago, Sony took it upon themselves to invite the press to an event in February, but if the words from the VP are sure enough, we won't be seeing the new system then. Instead, he says that the PlayStation sector of the tech giant are "focused on E3," but, "the announcement could take place at that time, or maybe even before, in May." That might line up with the February conference, but that same chat also says that May will probably be the very earliest we here of the new machine.
Can you guys wait till then?
