Why I Want People to Buy Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

Before I start I want to say that this is strictly my opinion, I am not trying to offend anyone – I dont really care what games people play. I just thought this would be a pretty cool controversial article. Now Ive been pretty harsh towards Activision and its Call of Duty franchise and quite frankly thatll never stop. Heres something that sprung to mind after a conversation with my friend at University. Basically me and this guy have beaten every Call of Duty game so far, and our achievements/ trophies really prove that. However, this year well be replacing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 with Battlefield 3 and this is where some of you come in. One of the reasons we decided to jump the bandwagon this year was the fact that we are tired of seeing underage players acting like they are superior to everyone in the game. I hate kids that refuse to enjoy their childhood and try to play games with the big boys. The fact is; By Call of Duty being the most overrated game of this generation; it has made this game popular to both kids and campers. So to those pubeless kids telling me to follow them into an ambush in-game, I say fuck you - I aim to win! Its not even kids sometimes; its the campers as well as the n00b-tubers. Quite frankly, I dont blame my hatred towards Activision for my disgust towards Call of Duty. I blame the people that ruin the experience with exploits and dirty tactics. Dont get me wrong, I like some Call of Duty games like the original Modern Warfare but the games after seemed to be missing something – This is where I blame Activision. After the release of Call of Duty 4, it was up to Activision to publish and give the thumbs up to significantly better games but Activision didnt. Instead, they allowed very generic sequels and games to be released. Since Call of Duty 4, Ive felt that the studios developing games under Activision partnership have been re-releasing broken games. I still see glitches from Call of Duty 4 in Black Ops. I dont see why its so hard for Activision and its partners to take a break, fix glitches and construct a new engine and release a game every 2 years – Oh wait, theyre money-hungry bastards so they cannot afford to take a year out in fear that they could lose publicity to the company's competitors. Both Treyarch and Infinity Ward could keep updating Call of Duty for 2 years through DLC and still profit, whilst they construct a new game. Call of Duty is always the same-old game. Modern Warfare 3 marks the 8th game and Ive beaten 7 previously on veteran - So you can imagine my boredom. This year, Ive tried a lot of great shooters; Killzone 3, Resistance 3 (even played with Greg), Battlefield 3 and the soon to be released, Halo CE: Anniversary. Each of these games offers a unique experience and have all scored higher metacritic scores than the last Call of Duty game, Black Ops. Between the Modern Warfare VS Battlefield 3 situation, Id choose Battlefield 3 easily. For one, the Frostbite engine is far superior to the recycled Id Tech 3-based, IW engine. Battlefield 3 looks and plays better and generally feels like a new entry in the franchise - Whereas, Call of Duty does not. Call of Duty offers great multiplayer, but its overwhored by underage kids, n00bs and exploiters. Id like Battlefield 3 to be the Call of Duty 5 I never got to play - And games after Call of Duty 4 were essentially just Call of Duty 4.1, 4.2, and 4.3 – The recycled engine needs to go. Id like to see better graphics and better physics for Call of Duty. Just to clarify, Id like n00bs, kids and exploiters to still buy and enjoy Call of Duty. I genuinely would like Battlefield 3 to be a more serious game for more hardcore players. I think after the year of some of the greatest shooters weve seen in the past decade, Activision and its partners really need to step up. I know this article was biased as hell but thats it, its my opinion (so dont get offended) – So I guess theres only one thing to ask - What are yours?

Here Here. I play both these games on pc... Cod is getting borring and battlefield 2142 for the PC was great but still got some hackers (aimbots ect...) Now I have moved over to the PS3 versions of the games and to be honest I am being put off by the hackers!!! I have cod MW2 which is ok for the single player but the Multi is a joke!!! Waiting to check out Battlefield 3 final release!!! Beta was ok but not great compared to PC....The PC versions are only ever console ports and that is anoying as I used to rent Dedicated servers and now the ports mean that anyone can be a server even the people with crap computers!!!! That was my reason for swapping to ps3 gaming!!! Every one has the same equipment.. But there are just too many hackers ect....

Roll on a anti cheat engine that works 100%!!!!!

You hit the nail right on the head. I too have switched camps this year. I have played all Call of duty games to date and never played a Battlefield game. This year things are different for me, I have pre-ordered Battlefield 3 but won't be going anywhere near Modern Warfare 3.

Its nice to know I'm not the only one who feels this way...You took the words right out of my mouth with this article...I too am jumping ship this year...I dont mind the noobs, campers, and the kids so much, but when someone has to hack the game to feel superior is ridiculous...I also have beaten all of the COD's and its just time for a change...I cant wait for BF3 and hope it blows COD out of the water in the sells department so Activision can finally open their eyes and say, "Hey guys, maybe we should focus on Improving our game(and engine) rather than making money off the same shit year round." Call of Duty campers are in larger numbers than campers in any other FPS franchise - That is an actual fact so your argument is invalid. Enjoy your recycled garbage known as Modern Borefare.

When I played Battlefield 3, there were not many campers because the game is taken more seriously. CoD is still overrated, reviewers gave it a metacritic score of 87% but users rated this game 5.7/ 10 (that shows how overrated the game is). I could play CoD and annihilate most people - My 3 CoD and the various FPS platinum trophies prove that. Fact is, if you actually want a new experience you should play Battlefield 3 - if you like the same old shit then play Modern Warfare - That's generally how it goes.

FYI userscore of killzone was 7.9/10 and Resistance 3's was 7.6/10 both scored a lot higher than Black Ops. I'm just saying people should let Call of Duty die - It had it's time and now it's being milked to shit.

who buys war games for the single player mode anymore? I got tired of that back in the ps2 days. Its all about multiplayer, and when it comes to multiplayer call of duty plays and looks way better , have you even played battlefield 3's multiplayer? its is so bad. The melee system may be the worse ive ever encountered, and the guns are awful. i do like some of the physics improvements, but in the end of the day call of duty is more stable, and is more fluid and free flowing. Is call of duty realistic? hell no, is it fun? yes unless you have a stick up your ass. and thats all that matters. If you want realism go enlist in the army and do something productive besides writing pointless "articles" on the internet. And stop complaining about grenade launchers, its part of the game, deal with it. If someone grenade launches me, instead of bitch about it, i either put one on myself, or throw flack jacket on and beast on them. Funny how you want to avoid kids, meanwhile you are the one complaining and whining like a 2 year old. Oh and i have another suggestion, i dont ever hear kids anymore in call of duty really, because me and my friends stay in partychat, maybe you should try and find some friends and try that. Whining and opinions are two different things. The melee system in CoD sucks a lot more, for one - I'm pretty sure everyone's been knifed and not actually been hit. Call of Duty is fluid - But it is overshadowed by lazy development and glitches. I have friends? Infact, my list is full all of them are smart enough to play real games. If you don't play war games for the single player then you are a mindless idiot who's wasting his money.

Battlefield 3 was in beta - You can never compare a beta to the finished product. Even so, the game played fine and also looked far superior.

About grenade launchers, you shouldn't have to change the way you normally play because of an idiot spamming the same overpowered weapon.

I'll enjoy being sniped on Battlefield because the maps have far more depth than any CoD map could ever have.

what you don't get is modern warfare has been built on the same game engine for years since unreal tournament and that is the best the game will ever be.Unlike battlefield 3 they have chosen a whole new game engine which you can see improvements with.

There are sooooo many games that have awesome single player, so idk why you would still look to call of duty and battlefield for single player play, soooooooooo boring. Though i will admit, in singleplayer battlefield is superior to call of duty by far in graphical experience, but in multiplayer...... if you think battlefield looks better.... i dont know what you are looking at, i know the maps are way bigger and thats why they need a lower framerate. But the end product looks like shit. and i could get by that really easily, if the game itself played well and it doesnt. yes i have gotten frustrated so many times in my life by the melee not working in call of duty, but i never said it was the best melee system, all i said is battlefield has the worst, by far. if you can be standing a foot behind someone, and your both not moving, and you melee and it misses that is unacceptable, and that happens about 70 percent of the time in battlefield. and whats the difference between grenade launchers and snipers? if everyone on the opposing team in battlefield is using snipers on those long maps you need to either take yours out, or get raped. So every game has weapons that can change the way you have to play the game. Only in cod there are perks to counter act it, and if you choose not to use them its your own dumb fault. it takes multiple explosives to kill you wearing flack jacket, so if someone can tube you, reload and tube again and you havent shot them, you suck and deserve to die. The only reason i wish grenade launchers would go is because of the amount of people who suck at call of duty who use it as an excuse. Believe me i wanted to battlefield 3 to be good, i pre ordered it, but its awful. i know the final product will have fixed multiple beta issues, but the core of the game is terrible, it has an awful feel and would take an engine overhaul to fix it, hopefully they do and battlefield 4 is awesome, until then ill stick with mw3 and fun fast paced close quarters combat.

"why you want people to buy mw3" - obviously, u put this title as a distraction, and it is counter intuitive. I agree though, with most of what u said, but you mainly point out the flaws in the call of duty franchise, and fail to say much about battlefield franchise. When I look into purchasing an FPS, I'm primarily looking to playing an FPS! With battlefield bad company 1, 2, and the upcoming 3 , your FPS experience was limited because of all these vehicles. Its a big part of why I abandoned the halo franchise. The vehicles ruin the game. At first glance, the vehicles in the trailers and such bring this excitement , but if you put that into a multiplayer environmen t, your essentially forced to using the vehicles in most of your play time just to balance out your fighting chances. Don't get me wrong, I have played all the battlefield games to date, both single player and multiplayer extensively, but multiplayer is what counts these days and what sets the lasting appeal, and when your constantly forced to use vehicles for a fair fight, it ruin the fps experience. And just so you know this is coming from a loyal long time battlefield fan , ever since the original battlefield. Even with all these flaws in battlefield, I still have pre-ordered battlefield 3 on PC simply because I have always been a die hard fan, and if u think that just because campers, or vehicles hogs are going to make me give up on a franchise, then you have long been mistaken.

Now, as for call of duty..... I have been playing cod since the original release on pc, some odd years ago in a land far away. I have played every single cod game to release. I have completed the the single player multiple times for all games, and I will say that the single player experiences are relatively short but pack a lot of action , like an fps is suppose to have.Now for co-op. since W@W zombies have been a great addition and same with black ops zombies, however, there are many flaws that can be fixed in zombies with both the matchmaking and the gameplay options. For example, in the match-making they could put u in a game where your playing with those players that have mics and are near the same level you are when you have no friends to play with at the time. And for game-play, they need to fix up the glitches , because all the cheaters now get credit for making it to the high rounds. Also, it would be nice if they could add "save state" so that if you have to leave the game for whatever reason, that you didnt just waste 5 hours of your life trying to get to round 40 in a zombies game. Now for spec ops in mw2, the problem with this was that it was short, I remember passing all the levels on veteran within the 2nd day, hopefully, mw3s new survival mode will fix that. Now on to multiplayer. Ever since cod4, (which IMO is the best multiplayer cod experience ever) the multiplayer has been where its at, and im not going to let the campers or noob tubers etc, ruin my experience with the game, and if IW supported cod4 with map packs and if there was more competition I would still be playing cod4, BTW, which i still do occasionally. I always find ways to out smart these scrubs, and come out on top, just like i do with vehicles in battlefield. I am the highest prestige and highest rank in all cods, along with everything unlocked. High stats. all Legit, but with that said my experience with cod mp has been the best experience in a mp fps that ive ever had, despite all the camper tubers, etc, etc, and all the technical problems, etc, etc. I have managed to be on top of the leader-boards week after week, and all time in public matches. I even competed on GB ( even though the rules are different) and have played and competed with some of the best in the world on the pro circuit. So I can say i mastered cod , and even though the engine is repeated year after year, its still the same engine that we lived to love and admire in th first place because of it's simplicity which gave us that fast run and gun type action for a FIRST PERSON SHOOTER. I agree, that camper kids get annoying in w@w, mw2, and especially black ops, but Its VERY FUN to CRUSH them and watch them cry at the end of the match with a throwing knife /or tomahawk to the face... , while you laugh your heart out.

SO....There will always be flaws in whatever games you play, and nothing will ever be "PERFECT" , thats why if your smart, most of the time you will find ways around these "issues", and sometimes you will die by campers and noob tubes, but thats part of the flaw in the game, and sometimes thats also what drives the ambition with in me to catch those SCRUBS slippin. With all this said, a TRUE GAMER, (like myself) will still go out and play BOTH BATTLEFIEL D 3 & MW3, and pwn in both games while doing so.

AND SAVE MONEY! which I already done for BF3 single player. and within 2 weeks for mw3 single player. that way i get the sp out the way, for the MP LAUCH! LETS DO THIS!

If only these online games had the option to only play on servers with 18+ or the option to create servers only for verified adults. Will not stop some kids using big bro's account to log in but it will reduce the issue and give the admins less people to kick out. Sure big bro will be kicking little bro's arse when he gets account suspended for letting minors access an adult service.

Then you get the problem of not finding a game. Thanks to A-H companies like EA not having servers for games in your country and making the experience so horrible you give up anyhow.

I play both Black ops (Just because they brought back dedicated servers) and Bad Company 2. I personally feel that Treyarch did a better job at making a dated engine a little more fun than IW did with MW2. But Dice beat the shit out of both companies with BC2 and I am looking forward to BF3. I took the time to play the open beta and I must say Dice really pulled out the big guns on BF3. For a Beta it played far better than every other COD recently. So I am not jumping ship on COD they did that for me when they said MW3 would not have dedicated servers. So Fuck Activision and Fuck IW. They ruined a good game. And I agree graphically MW3 looks like dog shit.

Since this seems a very thought out and adult statement i shall reply...why does everyone call Snipers campers? does anyone ever take into account that snipers get lower kill counts than run and gunners? A sniper uses camoflauge and stealth to kill people not just spray and pray. Snipers bring the element of fear and danger to the equation. No more just running in the open hopeing for a quicker trigger or better aim. In BF2 i can sit lets say a quarter or half a mile away and punch a hole in your head with my M-95. Not all gamers (some of us old-timers) do not have the hand/eye coordination you young gamers raised on console games have....so we rely on the snipe to place fear in your heart. I have tried to run and gun and get slaughtered every single time....so i say dont hate us Snipers, appreciate the skill it takes to do it. Max kills from one location is usually 3 then i have to move to prevent the other teams snipers from picking me off. because Dice listened to all you whining ass run and gunners and disadvantaged snipers badly by changing the ability to hide in bushes and blend into the shadows as we once could. I dont know that is just my opinion on the matter....

Battlefield has realistic gravity, where Cod has no gravity for bullets. Shotguns on battlefield actually go full range and continue until they hit the ground, whereas cod shotgun bullets disappear after about 6ft. Battlefield has larger maps and a better Single Player Experience than cod because battlefields single player doesn't feel the same every time whereas Cod single player you can predict where enemies will spawn and move. Battlefield has larger maps and actual weapon statistics unlike cod where they have been made up. Weapon Customization is better on battlefield as you can change before you spawn not before game.BATTLEFIELD FTW!!!

The Battlefield 3 beta sucked giant donkey cock. I have a pre-order for Battlefield 3, but chances are I won't be picking it up after the experience in the beta unless there is some godly review of the game after its gone gold I'll stick to dealing with the n00b tubing, camping, 12yr old lil' fanboys. And in this generation, graphics do matter. Especially when the last 5 Call Of Dumbass all looked like revamped PS2 games and lag worse than the idiots with bad connections on the BF3 Beta (which was actually an Alpha build, way earlier than a Beta, so if you had a shitty connection like 60% of people do, there was no server buffering to smooth it out)

It was an Alpha build that couldn't smooth over your shitty connection, idiot. If you lagged in the BF3 "Beta", it's solely because your connection wasn't good enough and the lack of any server data buffering capacity just showed you that fact. They need to just not let people online with bad connections. The idiots don't ruin the game, and they don't get to blame the game because they're sucking up all their own bandwith playing online while they're pirating the PC version and are too stupid to understand the connection.

I played the 2 games and one thing is sure ,in COD black ops i had so many connection lost , and lag shit , respawning 3 times out of 10 beside fucking gaymores or campers , the only thing where COD still got me is the upgrade system still keeping people on the track, but after 2 months of playing, you get fucking sick of it .So the thing right now is that there are not a lot of good games coming out on the market and that is going to make me play BF3 till i get tired of it and then i'll go on COD and return on BF3 when i get sick of COD and so on till we get other good games on the market.

Ok no one is going to argue with the fact that black ops was the worst game in the CoD franchise yet but thats treyarchs fault they are shit at making online games personaly i thought the shooting system was horible!!... but the story mode was good. Infinity Ward has made a completely new engine that they call the "MW3 Engine" that they say is completely revamped... i have recently bought Battlefield Bad company 2 and i have to say its a good game to play but the online just doesn't have the same feel as the CoD series and the gun classes are wierd to use(just my opinion i dont want aload of replies saying that im just a pubeless noob that cant play the game which i thought was a good slag)... i think that IW and DICE should join forces and make a game with the features of BF and the layout of CoD... now that is a game that would live up to its hype... personally i am buying booth of the game because i know that noob tubers and campers ruin CoD and i also get bored of games very easily so thats my opinion on the whole situation :)

wow, you know, Black Ops is the absolute worst Call of Duty game i have ever had the unfortunate occurrence to play. The game is over hyped, and only the best parts were shown at the release and before, but, the game is about 99% bullshit, FUCKIN SHIT graphics, and a completely terrible follow up to MW2. I still play MW2 even with the hackers, and just love the great graphics and story, but i am gonna say that BF3 is blowin the shit right out of the water! Frostbite is what Activision needs. Battlefield 3 win hand down. Reason? Thanks to Battlefield: Bad Company, we were given the ability to blow a hole in the wall. Now, C4 has a better usage. B:BC 2? We're able to literally bring down the roof. These were made possible due to the new engine by DiCE. Now, they're bringing this to Battlefield 3. Any shoulder-launcher rocket aren't now having to aim at the window. Just hit a wall or something. And there alway a way to counter a sniper in BF. Just look for a muzzle-flash. XD vehciles are a good way to get around, but i lament at teh poor n00bs who don't know how to best ulitize them. There also the fact that being on one side limit what weapons you can use. This actually has a beneficital than never before. Why? it nearly impossible for any of the terrorists to have a M4A1 when their favorite weapons are ak.

CoD series seem more like an arcade type. You make your weapons, perks, and what not, but you still aiming for those kills that give you help in the battlefield. Campers in that games are horrible. It not a matter of skill to hide there, but just spamming whatever you have. MW and MW2 had maps ideals for snipers, but Black Ops didn't. Here something else that makes CoD kinda stupid. How do you counter a sniper beside getting hit? You don't.

And I find this part hilarious about Battlefield 3 Open Beta. Don't judge the game based on the Beta. Beta is designed for players to report any glitches, issues, and/or bugs in the game. The actual game might fare better. Do you remember when Black Ops had Closed Beta, but many of the issues weren't fixed upon shipping dates? I remember. Beta are just testing phase. Learn to use google about betas.

And really, if you choose MW3, go for it. Just remember that using recycled engine just goes to show that they don't have talent for making new engines or are too lazy to make one. Yea, I know you're reading this, Activision and subdivision. Anybody can make a game, but it harder to make an engine. DiCE are applauded for making new engine and improving upon it.

CoD is still the best game on the market :)

all of yous will get bored of battlefield 3 and buy MW3!!
