There's Always A Bigger Fish...

You know the saying, Theres always a bigger fish. Well the gaming industry is a dog eat dog world and at the moment the big fishes in this world are the PlayStation 3 and the Nintendo 3DS. Anyway, enough of the animal references, the point of this is recent sales figures. From the 26th of December through to the 1st of January, weve seen some similarities in sales and some differences. The PlayStation Vita has been revealed in a larger picture which sees the handheld still plummeting in sales and being outsold by its predecessor; however its not the PSP it needs to worry about. Nintendos 3DS is still knocking the Vita out the park by outselling it in the same time period by more than 4 times the amount. Its not all bad news for Sony, over this short period the PlayStation 3 saw one of its strongest sales against Microsofts Xbox in years. The PS3 sold 27 units for every one 360, this shows somewhat promising signs for 2012 which could become the year of the PlayStation. Let me know your thoughts.

But the PS Vita hasen't even been officially sold outside of Japan. It's only been imported. The 3DS has been sold world wide. You can't start comparing until the PS Vita has been officially sold around the globe not just Japan.

The wii had the advantage of coming much earlier than the ps3, but when the later came into play, and the giminicks of nintendo were already old, the ps3 was obviously the best console and that soon will be reflected on sales. But, i still think nintendo has the cheat codes on portables...it's just too hard to out sell a nintendo portable. about the xbox, well, to keep with the animal metaphor, it is the vulture that flies over the big cats fighting bellow, scavenging whatever is left.

27 to 1? I think you're off your rocker. I just looked at all the weekly December stats and 360 is still outselling PS3. I doubt that one week (whose stats I haven't seen yet) suddenly shifted that much

The 360 sold more overall as of September 2011, and its sales are going down. The overall sales weren't that much of a difference, not to mention that the PS3 has been selling a lot recently :P
