Sony Goes Pokemon Style With New Console Colours

The new PlayStation entitled the 'Super-Slim' is probably Sony's best functioning and best looking version of the system since its original release way back when. However, with the hype of the new system still reasonably fresh in fan boys minds, Sony has decided to take advantage of the 'wow factor' by releasing a new blue and red version of the console.

 

There is nothing actually new or particularly intriguing about these new additions, except the fact they look cool in their new colours. It's kind of like the old Pokemon games, we all knew Blue and Red were pretty much identical, but in our childish minds, we all preferred one over the other...well this is pretty much the same.

 

As I look down at my blue PlayStation control and my standard black regular PlayStation slim, it pains me to think that I could have a console that matches my over priced controller. It truly is one of those "I must have moments".

They're trying to replicate the Nintendo tradition... Only reason it works for them is because their target consumers are children, PS3 owners tend to be older, it'll be interesting to see how much money this move costs them. Seems Sony don't care about screw ups anymore, but it provides entertainment for me :)

I can't imagine it would cost them much, they already have red and blue controllers available.

It does seem like a last ditch effort to produce some sales from the PlayStation though.

If Sony can push out the same hardware, but make it smaller, colorful, and priced right, it's actually a good time to push PS3 sales as much as they can before dropping the PS4 on us at E3.

I would think changing the color of plastic is cheap and easy to do, though the added SKUs are probably a headache for some retailers. Why did they wait so long? In fact, why do any of them wait so long and/or not do it except for special editions?
