Showtime Heads to DEX With v4.01.184

It's true that being tied down to a DEX console can sometimes be an annoying experience. Sure you get all of that added development function and a much more open firmware-based experience, but the reality is a lot of the coolest and most enjoyable apps aren't often created for that kind of architecture. In order to get some of that other stuff working, you normally would have to revert back to a retail configuration, which does get frustrating when you have to do it often. However, thanks to a new release from Deank, users of Showtime won't have to go through all of that trouble.

With a new build numbered at 4.01.184, Showtime has officially been ported to the DEX environment. This means for the most part you'll be getting all of those cool HTPC features like live TV streaming and Spotify right from your system without having to do much more than boot up the app. As is the usual, upon first boot the user will be asked to configure some basic settings for the application, and after that you should be good to go when it comes to getting your console media fix. Still, it should be noted that this particular iteration is four revisions behind what the CEX builds are getting, so you may be missing a few odds and ends, but for the most part all of the major functions should be represented. It's time to start the show from your DEX PS3!
