PS3 Firmware 3.70 Released

Sony is setting to release PS3 firmware version 3.70 -- and it'll probably be available through System Update ~~real soon~~ (it's out; see update). So what does 3.70 bring to the game? Well here's the deal, so says it Mr. Eric Lempel, VP of Sony Network Entertainment:

To make things easier for PlayStation Plus subscribers, weve added the option to automate two existing features. The [Automatic Download] feature will now be called [Automatic Update] as a result of these new options.

A new auto upload function for online save data back-up will be added to make it easier to back-up your game save data. Under (Game), select the game for which you want to automatically upload saved data, and then press the Triangle button.

Also, Trophies will now sync automatically at the timing of Auto Download.

That's cool, 'bout time automatic trophy sync'ing made its way here; and it's like Sony read my mind, automatic game saving to their cloud makes perfect sense. Silly both those features are for PS+ members only though. And in an attempt to up sales and rentals, Sony is introducing this feature, which lets you spam your PSN friends with links to games and videos:

A new recommendation function will be added that enables you to share your recommendations for PlayStation Store items, such as games and videos, with PlayStation Network friends. You will be able to send messages with a store link from the product pages within the PlayStation Store.

And lastly:

Due to the increase in video applications being offered on PS3, we are adding a new category on the XMB called TV/Video Services. This category will include video applications such as Netflix, Hulu PLUS, and VUDU.

Youll be able to find and download all of the video applications available on PS3 directly from this new XMB category.

A folder labeled My Channels within this category will allow you to easily access your downloaded applications.

Any videos downloaded from the PlayStation store will continue to be placed in the existing Video category on the XMB

Two updates for all of you enjoying Blu-ray 3D movies on PS3:

3D support will now be available when accessing Java-based special features on Blu-Ray

DTS-HD MA, DTS-HD HR decoding/bit stream output (or lossless audio) will be supported while playing Blu-ray 3D movies.

3D digital photos in MPO format can now be viewed in 3D on the XMB and in the Photo Gallery app.

Fair 'nuff, that's cool too, I guess... Too bad Hulu Plus and VUDU aren't available here in Canada ... unless you have a working US proxy or VPN, which I do ... anyone care to share their account with me? I will sell this console for something that I hate, XBOX 360.
Perhaps it is the right way for somebody who want JB.
I believe that there is no such man that may break the code for PS3.

Yes u can.. U will have to flash ur drive with a custom firmware so the dashboard thinks the games are genuine. If u want to minimalise the chance of being banned u have to patch ur games with AGBX. Be aware that there is no guarantee of not being banned.

Why the hell can't sony just let us have CFW, but just require that non-official software and games can't access psn? Piracy is a problem yes, but it's going to happen one way or another. The people who commit piracy are going to have their 3.55 PS3's anyway, no matter what sony does. Besides, we own the damn console, we should be able to do what ever the hell we want with it as long as it doesn't affect no body else. I'm a huge Playstation fan, been one since the beginning of PlayStation. But sony's beginning to REALLY piss me off.

If you have CFW 3.7 Then I would be very grateful if you released it, Yes to play pirated games, But mostly I find myself in the file system reading things and trying to figure out how they work,,, I have over Maybe 200 ps3 games, all the Emulators and roms,,, But I've only played like two games.. Not exactly. Right now, piracy on the PS3 can be considered ZERO, because new owners of legit PS3's would probably just buy used games instead of paying them full price, hence not granting Sony any income. Old games, the ones that can run off 3.55, are not profitable anymore, and pirates can NOT run newer games.
So yes, they won this round, unless they screwed up big time AGAIN. Yo ucan kiss pirated games goodbye I'm afraid...

Wrong. Yes you can flash the DVD drive, but Microsoft is experimenting with new protection schemes, which have so far locked six games as an experiment, and my guess is that they will activate it across their back catalogue as soon as GOW3 is released. Plus, modding an Xbox right now is SUICIDAL, as these protections are designed to immediately flag your console at even the slightest sign of tampering.

I think you're better off giving up the "piracy" side: an Xbox Live ban isn't exactly something that leaves you happy and fre, it nearly cripples the console. I should know from my JTAG :)

Doesn't work anymore: new AP2.6 challenges are unknown (and estimated to exceed 150 in number) and consoles are being flagged upon dashboard update. So no one is safe anymore from banning. If one wants to pirate, he has to know it's offline only.

i started to hate ps3 either i ve cried years ana yyears to get it my friends who has xbox 360 started to buy 2013 games and i still play 2011 old games because of the fuck in sony co which makes its gay updates which also dont let any one play online while on other consoles you can do what ever they want and and i decided to sell my ps3 and by xbox 360 and what ever i want tell sony stop its fuckin updates
